    • Nose
Dirty greens, celery, moss and asphalt. Heavily smoked preserved mustard, then melted cement, Indian jujubes and some dried dates. Also engine oil, dirty cotton and a little bit of green apples. After more than 30min in the glass, roasted macadamia nuts, taro and white sesame.
    • Taste
Toffee to start, some citrus zest and rotten hami melons. Later on, celery, beetroots, black peppers and some kiwi, and mostly greens like wax gourd rind to finish up. White wall paint also.
    • Finish
Paraffin, sugar-coated baked potato skin, beetroot, kiwi skin, not so smoky here but rather it showed long-lasting mellow toffee and red beans.

[November, 2009]  I had my first dram during a Prof. Schobert "Islay" tasting at Bonn.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  I took no further notes.

    Colour: Old gold.
Nose: Peaty, maritime, slightly winey and meaty, with some
    raisins, curry and vanilla.
Taste: Dry, very peaty, maritime, on iodine, seaweeds, with
some coriander, tar, ashes, some raisins and oak. Diluted, it becomes more on
toffee and chocolate. The finish is long, dry, peaty, slightly winey and on
chocolate, with some seaweeds and vanilla.
General Impression: A very nice Ardbeg, slightly rougher and
    oakier than the Committee release.
