Tasted along with a 92-94 bottling of Spirit S.P.A import (70 cl). Both are stylish, but this one is closer to the late Unblended versions. As I ever saw a 1987 bottling of Cinzano import bearing the Unblended label, this bottling probably dated around late 1987 to 1991.

Reminiscent of the late Unblended bottlings, but less fruity. Just-washed table cloths from Cantonese restaurants, then glazing sugar sweetness, which was reinforced by grapefruit after aeration. Rather costal with nori, fennel and star anise in broth, a trace of nectarine, and mild gala apple. A bit dirtier, spicier, and more costal less tarry than the 70cl spirit import. Aeration also unveiled more bandage, ripe melon and grease in workshop.

Arrived soft, with honeyed sweetness, as well as many bandages, kelp, old leathers, liquorice, fennel. Chewing unveiled more leather, air freshener accompanied by warming ginger and mild bitterness of charred food, as well as more peat smoke. This one is certainly less bright-waxy-fruity then the later edition, with more smoked husk of malt and coconut at the end. Rather harmonic with time.

Truly harmonic and certainly long, but also tended to be monotonous. Dominated by tender but robust peat smokes, many more umami now, with charred wood and smoked cheese. Warm spices at the entry of throat, earthy smoke, and a lack of herbal/dandelion is another point that I pretty much enjoyed.
