I would have thought the Macallan 12yo in the 80s would be much better but this dram proved me wrong.
    • Nose
      85 85
Macallan-style chocolate upfront covering a spoonful of crushed nuts, especially walnuts, soon became earthy with the aroma of half-dried mandarin orange peel. A quick wave of soft nutmeg to close out. Oh, there's more roasted almond found near the rim bottom of the glass. All the above didn't last long, the starting point wasn't bad, but depth and complexity were simply not there. After a sip, more liquorice could be found. More nutty chocolate from the emptied glass.
    • Taste
      85 85
Sweet and sour orange with pith, diluted caramel, a bit of spice blended with which subsequently turned out to be pear with peel. Lacks longevity and richness after some chewing.
    • Finish
      86 86
Sweet spices like vanilla and a small amount of cinnamon, sweet red bean mash, chestnut and some approachable nutmeg near the end.
