Of course, the stuff is way too young! It is nice, however, that one has used "honest" barrels and has not thrown a deep brown sauce on the market, in which every whisky is damned beyond recognition. In contrast to many whiskys, which only rise in the air, this unfortunately collapses in itself, so you should hurry up a bit when Verriechen. Overall, he is quite neat for his three years, to what extent one can deduce something there for the future, is left open, legitimate hopes but you can definitely make. Another tip: it is more pleasant to drink when it is slightly chilled.

Surprisingly full and ripe immediately after pouring. Green notes, some cereals, a light citrus touch and also slight sweetness. That's far less New Makey than feared. After he was allowed to breathe for a while now, I have a first momentum of peach compote in my nose, but it is immediately chased away by fresh New Make notes. Only exercise revives the whole thing again, but the beautiful nose has unfortunately disappeared from the beginning. Anyway, it's really more fermented new make than whisky now. A pity, if I had known that, I would not have stopped breathing so quickly. Heat brings back some life to the shack, vinous notes are now in the foreground and the peaches are to be guessed again, but now also bites the alcohol in the nose and the bread is still there. Vanilla is still to be found, just before too much heat makes the nose musty. If it cools down again, I get a brief impression of black bread with Nutella.

In the mouth it is slightly oily, the alcohol is also ahead, but tamed, as was to be feared. He does not remember alcohol. On the flavors side, herbs and bright honey give a rendezvous, behind there's still a decent load of white pepper. In the second sip he seems a bit sprightly, the sweetness is now rather sugary and it gets slightly metallic at the back. In the third sip, unfortunately, this trend continues, the alcohol is now very harsh and the sweetness is now almost completely gone to the herbs.
    • Finish
      77 77
The finish is not that short. The herbs are already forgotten when the pepper is gone. Instead, the honey slowly gives way to its carrier surface: the bread. After about two minutes, then everything is over, even to the bread reminds nothing more.

strong, crispy-grained, slightly scratchy-sprittig (young stop), pepper, splash of lemon, with water you get the scratchy away, then lemon / banana and honey sweetness, but too thin - beautiful Optimum is not.
That can become something, feels like potential, but bottles in such a young, I do not have to have. The 44 € I begrudge those anyway, should invest in a good camp.

Malty and grainy, some almonds, vanilla and yeast. You can smell its young age, almost new make
    • Taste
      78 78
Spicy and slightly drying, coffee, toast, nuts, nutmeg, some herbs. As for the nose, feels almost new makey, it's still very young, you can't hide it.
    • Finish
      77 77
Longer than expected. Pepperish and some herbs.

Nose: Creamy and sweet with vanilla, apple and pear pie, with soft spices, and feels fresh and young. with quite some alcohol and pencil shavings, creme Catalan and a hint of banana with some new-make notes. not bad, but showing its young age, of course.

Palate: bitter sweet with lots of vanilla, and toasted oak, bitter coffee beans, apple and citrus peel. quite wood driven despite its young age. but the balance is good.

Finish: short, with toasted wood, bitter chocolate, and apple peel, cereals.

he wants time but then .....
where was the wine barrel left?
OK for 3 years but I expected something more
    • Nose

Shortbread (class), slightly oak later becomes freshly sawn wood, light fruit (so peach), metal touch
      dark caramel is coming
later: bitterness, (spiny) berry, nice vanilla, some lemon

      then spicy
later: red berry and a slightly chemical note, malt, floury apple
    • Finish
      medium long
spicy, oak comes and gets stronger, browned apple

still a bit young, but already very promising, looking forward to more releases. The nose is clearly the best part of this whisky.
    • Nose
      80 80
sweet, vanilla, cereal, pineapple, just a bit of new make spirit left. also citrus fruits, grassy and peaches.
    • Taste
      72 72
Bit sharp and acidic, bit hard of alcohol, hint of baby puke, white pepper.
    • Finish
      75 75
not very long, white pepper, honey and bread

  10. Dre73 scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

The nose is really very promising, fresh and light, but then the body really disappoints. Very thin, is this really 46% Abv? It lacks character, and depth.
Of course this is only 3 year old whisky, so the question is: Was this ready to bottle? In my opinion: Not yet, although I can understand people are curious and a distillery likes to meet the waiting ones.
I tasted this together with new make and a single cask, my conclusion over all: Promising stuff, but give it some more time.
    • Nose
      85 85
Very light, fresh, grassy, freshly mowed grass. Also floral, the green of plants. Some yellow fruit, lemon.
    • Taste
      75 75
Oh my, as promising as the nose is, as weak is the body. Watery mouthfeel, caramel, orange. Thin, not much taste or depth. A bit of honey.
    • Finish
      78 78
Now a little more pepper and power, orange, honey, licorice. Still not very convincing, and not too long.
