Nose: powerful, definitely feel the high abv, candied ginger, confectionary sweets and creamy vanilla. With water - rancio.. reminiscent of an older Armagnac.

Palate: confectionary type sweetness, an abundance of tongue tingling spice and chilli heat. Some fruit, berries, raisins, maybe some red apple and nuts.
Finish: long drying spice lingers including some pepper.

    Strong sherry whisky
    • Nose
a lot of sherry, alcoholic spiciness, light sweetness, a little orange
    • Taste
Sherry, sweetness, some oak, light sulfur, oily, some chocolate (dark)
    • Finish
Oak, bitter, dry sherry, some chocolate (dark), medium length

and then the glass is empty. An incredible flavor cargo. A lot of oak, but still in the frame. It would be almost pointless to guess here. OK, there is no smoke and obtrusive sherry is not felt, at most Refill. For that I would attest to the whisky for at least 30 years, perhaps a no-name-1970s Speysider, of which there have been some lately? Definitely delicious, the stuff. 90P.
    • Nose
Juicy comes to mind first. Ripe peaches, apples, a whole fruit basket, but also a strawy component and a sweep of oak, cloves, nutmeg. Lots of fruit, lots of spice and sweet with slightly tart undertones. Very oily, which is a strange association in the nose. With water the nose becomes extremely sweet and heavy with lots of fruit and oak.
    • Taste
In the mouth, in addition to the syrupy fruit notes immediately a lot of bitter oak notes, strong, but round, oily and heavy. Lots of oak extract, plus some cloves and black pepper. With water, the whisky softens a bit and the woody notes turn a bit sour.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long, sweet, slightly fruity and in the end but then harsh with plenty of oak, without being slain

NOSE: Printer's ink, dark fruit leather, cocoa, nuts, graham, citrus peel, olde candy, leather, candied blueberries and spice. It's not your typical sherry cask. This is a brooding aroma, a heavy sulking thing that lumbers through the senses.

PALATE: Ink, iodine, sticky dried dark fruit, malt, cocoa, candied citrus, baking spice, blueberries, ashy char and some nutty notes. Compared to the heavy aroma the palate of this Amrut Intermediate Sherry is almost light. It's balanced, bright, delicious, and far too easy to drink.

FINISH: Long -> Dried dark fruit, spice, ash and nuts that fade out bright and elegant.
