  1. lincolnimp scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

I last tasted this 3 years ago WB 94929 clear glass bottle, at the time I was only aware of the one type of bottle, this time confirmed green bottle, the same type of green bottle used for Black & White Buchanan’s blend.
I have no idea how this guy got a bottle but quite a few of the 62 bottles have ended up on UK auctions
Last time I scored this 86/84/85, and to be honest I was disappointed by it, no idea of fill level on that particular bottle.
This is so much different to the last time I tried it, my taste buds have changed over the last 3 years for sure, since covid but this is different to last time?
A subtle fragile profile, that you really have to concentrate with due the age the flavours dissipate on the palate they do not linger.

On an emotional level this is 95 points but in reality this is 88-90 points all things considered, this time round.

      90 90
You have to look for the flavours in the first 10 seconds, the palate is fragile, there is some caramel to start with, the faintest ginger note, a little orange which increases as you go on but still not that pronounced.
What is surprising is the fact that it is not woody, it is rather crisp and clean, there is a fruit and cream note which I really like, what fruit is difficult to pinpoint.
There is a gentle fizz with this as it goes down, the balance is really good.
At 40% and 60 years old it is a lottery, thankfully this is fine, phew.

    • Finish
      90 90
Not the longest for obvious reasons, or so I thought but actually there is a lingering warm glow that lasts enough time to class it as a medium. The finish is composed, very subtle, but obviously fragile, stewed plum on the finish.
