A very nice representative of the 18-year-old sherry cask type, probably a very high proportion of first fill sherry casks. I'm a huge fan of Glendronach Allardice and I'm also very impressed by this one. You notice both the origin of the barrel and the character of the distillery. Grandiose cask selection and composition. An Allardice as written in books.
    • Nose
Intoxicating and beguiling! Only an Allardice smells like that. You can tell it's a distillate from the 90s. It resonates with that certain mini mini minimal smokiness. Otherwise you have the best of an Oloroso cask here. Together with this wonderful Glendronach spirit. Preserved fruits, mainly plums, all garnished with cinnamon. The barrel blends in very harmoniously, and there may also be a little orange scent. To melt away.
    • Taste
The pleasure intoxication of the nose continues very nicely here. The alcohol is fantastically integrated. The whole thing comes across as very strong and heavy. But it wouldn't be as if this whisky didn't also have a certain sweetness. This whisky is addictive.
A cooked fruit potpourri with nice spices and a pleasant oaky spiciness. Along with sweet orange juice.
    • Finish
Very nice long. And round. Great sherry load, the alcohol is perfectly integrated. Nothing scratches, nothing burns.
And underneath it all lies that so important and so typical minimal coal smoke of a Glendronach.
