[September, 2017]  Hey, what is this?  A prototype whisky?  I think the marketing people go completely crazy now ... and what is next - maybe a mockup whisky?  Okay, let us try it.The colour is old gold and the texture shows fast legs and late fat tears.  The nose is that of a typical young Lagavulin - not more, not less.  I do not smell a lot of the bordeaux cask finish.  The mouthfeel is hot and coating but adstringent too (tannins, cold ashes).  The taste offers a bold peated barley sugary profile on firm wooden flavours with some herbal aromas - okayish but not great.  The finish is long as usual with Lagavulin and dries out a little at the end (metallic, papers).  Water turns the dram smoother and more easy to sip but I like the power of the neat beast more.To be honest, this is a standard young Lagavulin that (maybe) spent a couple of days in a German Bordeaux cask - but if it is a "real" prototype it should no go to serial production.  Just bottle the Lagavulin as it is or even better:  let it mature for some more years...
