    • Nose
      82 82
      Vanilla and apples is what first comes to mind. A citrus note like lemons follow. A hint of dried apricots too. Now it turns much more cereal with notes of barley and cereal biscuits. At the end a little hint of ginger.

      Again sweet and fruity in the beginning with hints of apple sauce and vanilla. Bananabread and apricots complement each other very well. A hint of brown sugar and dark chocolate. Barley and roasted woody notes. And in the end also ginger.
    • Finish

      Medium-long and a little bit dry. Hints of vanilla, oak and, yes again, ginger, lingers on for some time.

    The worst of the four is taste. Overall, the Speyside is smooth and not very distinctive. The finish is overly woody.
    Water brightens the nose, but worsens the taste even more.

      bittersweet, apples, ranetka, pineapple

      wood bitterness

    10 year old bourbon, oloroso and virgin oak. Natural colour, no chill filtration and 43% abv does it favours and makes for an interesting, straighforward and tasty dram.
    Quite cheaply acquired and very good value entry bottling from BenRiach.

      Minerally fresh, slightly minty with heather and honeysuckle. Some vanilla and oaky notes in the background. Quite pleasant and very nice for 10 years.
    • Taste

      Fresh citric, honeyed sweet with chalky, minerally salty bread. Vanilla and oak are loyal companions, but the sweet, sour and salty balance out quite well with some faint oloroso appearing as a backdrop.
    • Finish

      Short to medium on the minerals and sherry and slightly drying.
