  1. St. Pauli Plus scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

C.V. stands for Chairman's Vatting. It's not sure of what whiskies this vatting was made, but it seems like a combination of bourbon or refill casks, and some sherry casks.

It's quite a good dram, especially on the nose and palate where it's rather balanced. In the finish, the woody side gets more dominant and there is a slight bitter lemon touch too.
    • Nose
      84 84
Slightly smoky, and a bit pefumed on soap/fresh coriander. It has an earthy side too, of clay. Later, citrus comes to the fore and the perfumed side moves to the background. Then, dried fruit and shoe polish are to be detected. After aeriation, the nose is pleasant.
    • Taste
      84 84
Sufficient power, good drinking strength. It's supple and oily, not so sweet, and moderately spicy. The earthy/gritty side dominates, with clay, polish, and a whiff of smoke and oil. There is a small creamy vanilla side to it, and quite some citric freshness. Cooked fruit is to be detected too, just as some pepper and ginger towards the end.
    • Finish
      82 82
Short to moderate, a bit thinner than on the palate, and increasingly spicy (chili pepper). It's more citric now, with not just lemon zest but also lemon pip. Still some earth and smoke, and a whiff of cooked fruit.
