    A comparison of three Talisker 10s: 2024 (254963), 2015 (76015), 2000 (4425).
The 2000 is my favorite; the oil-fired oven aroma was special, and overall, it seems the most balanced of the three. Next comes 2015, which is already leaning a bit toward 2024, but still has plenty of 2000 in it. 2024 takes last place of the three. It seems younger to me than it actually is.

    2024: 85/100
    2015: 87/100
    2000: 88/100

In order to satisfy my renewed desire for a Talisker 10, I will probably have no choice but to look at auctions.

The 2024 has a light pear note at the beginning, while the 2015 has more apple, and at 2000 I get the aroma of a warm oil stove and some lavender, but no fruit at first. The 2024 has gooseberries, young green branches, and fresh hay. The 2015 seems creamy and not as young as the 2024, but rather ripe. The 2015 also has nougat and almond chocolate, and now, alongside the apples, peach jam. At 2000, the oil stove still rumbles; I last experienced this aroma (considered in isolation) in an old Redbreast 15 Pure Pot Still. With some time in the glass, the 2024 loses its greenish, youthful impression, but remains the one with the most youthful aura of the three.

The 2000 is pleasantly strong and creamy on the palate. Dry wood, campfire smoke, Cheyenne pepper, hot paprika, lavender, canned mandarin oranges. The 2015 is also strong and dry on the palate, with spicy paprika, warm smoke, espresso beans, dark chocolate, and mandarin orange water. The 2024, which I taste immediately (about 10 seconds) after a small sip of the 2015, initially seems thinner on the tongue than the other two, only to then hit with a powerful peppery punch. I can feel the pepper on my lips. The 2024 also has pear notes on the palate, along with clove spice and grated nutmeg, remaining spicy for a long time, with a cool smoke. The nose of the 2000 is a nuance more distinctive after the first sip; the 2000 is nowhere near as sharp as the 2024. The 2015 is the absolute link between the two, although its character tends more towards the 2000 than the 2024.

    • Finish
      88 88
The finish of the 2000 is medium-length, pleasantly peppery, with tangerine water and almonds, very maritime. The finish of the 2015 is slightly shorter; here, too, the aroma is pleasantly peppery, with notes of chocolate and almonds, and a hint of pear. The finish of the 2024 is noticeably pepperier and sharper than the other two, and the smoke is also more noticeable. While the finish of the 2024 isn't necessarily shorter than the 2000 and 2015, I still feel that this is due to the peppery heat and increased peat smoke.
