  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Horny whisky. Really tasty. More elegant and "mature" than the "rare old", less "edgy", yet full of power, one might think, more than 43.4%. Nice to have tasted that. 180 € for 0.5l are still gaga.
    • Nose
full and strong, leather, earth, somewhat mushy, old, dusty wood, chocolate cake, nut (clear sherry barrel)
    • Taste
full-bodied, fairly dry mouthfeel, chocolate biscuits, dried fruit, nuts, pepper and cloves, some cardamom ?, tobacco, dry, old kitchen herbs
    • Finish
long and pleasant bitter-dry chocolate, tobacco, a touch of licorice, mild, warming sharpness

the old one is noticeable - the oak flavors are also very good to me - for a perfect balance I miss a few fruit flavors on the palate.
    • Nose
rather restrained, dry old oak, slightly tender orange, light citrus notes, raisins, laurel, dry figs, sweet grass, quite oily and old but not particularly intense, eucalyptus and mint. In hand-warm glass, the orange is more effective
    • Taste
Cherry jam, orange marmalade, eucalyptus and tobacco flood the tongue, fresh and sweet like an oak-based balm, the oak is quite complex and already develops nuances on the tongue
    • Finish
Minty fresh and herbaceous with a light sweetness - reminds me of a sweet, spicy, spicy aryuvedic herbal tea with orange peel and apricot, with each further sip of the finish is better - he loads properly - but rather sweet spicy than fruity

I find a clearly underestimated Malt. Round, harmonious but with a little whistle. A good gentlemen dram. The price for NEN 18 is already strong, but I do not regret the purchase. 89 points
    • Nose
The first nose is a strong sherry power. Blackberries and blackcurrants are immediately noticeable. Over time, green juicy apples are dominant. He looks a little sour and creamy at the same time. Slowly a bit earthy. Everything harmonious and alternating. After the first sip clearly nutty, slightly caramelized.
    • Taste
dusty, earthy with a very small smoky note that I have not noticed in the nose at all. A light chilli while Oak opens. A trace of salt in dark chocolate. Reminiscent of my taste a bit of fino sherry whisky. A good sip of black coffee. Good salivation.
    • Finish
Wood looks pleasant with a slight bitterness. Chocolate stays until it becomes fruity and slightly sour again.

Like the Rare Old, it is a unique and unexpectedly well integrated whisky. The flavors and smells might not seem inviting, but if you get a chance to try it, take it. It is a singular experience.
    • Nose
Orange chocolate, smoked orange peel, cherry cordial, earthy wood, aged sherry, floral peat, pepper, and smoked bacon.
    • Taste
Saline, mushrooms, chocolate, honey, floral chocolate (daffodil), and aged parmigiano cheese
    • Finish
Salted fish, peas, and char smoke.

Nose - orange peal, spice, roasted nuts, dark honey, coffee, sweet barley, dunnage and oak. Water improves the nose, soft fruits, vanilla pod, heather.

Taste - spice, malty, ginger, cloves, mango, bitter coffee, chocolate and rose-mint.

Finish - spice, oak and lightly drying.

Thoughts -It feels like a Highland whisky, would have been nice for a more sherry influence. The abv is spot on and I would recommend adding some water. Hard to score this one. I prefer the Mortlach rare old.

Good drinkable, not overwhelmed. Has a nice finish and also the alcohol is reasonably involved, which on the nose previously seemed different. But clearly too expensive for the offered.
    • Nose
      87 87
sweet, very fruity with pear and exotic fruits, honey, vanilla, alcohol cools something in the nose, later sour and a little furniture polish
    • Taste
      86 86
quite spicy, again sweet and vanilla, bright fruits, occupying the mouth. Alcohol very pleasant, almost tasty
    • Finish
      89 89
Departure quite long with bitterness, spice, again furniture polish and walnuts.

Not bad, but not so outstanding, especially if I look at the price. Better IB's can be cheaper. 84/85.
    • Nose
Sherry, orange peel, gerbeaud, spicy oak, caramel, earth and touch of smoke.
    • Taste
Floral. Honey, caramel, citruses, spicy oak, cheese, walnut and chestnut puree.
    • Finish
      Medium length, spicy, creamy.
