  1. Thermidor scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

It's sad the nose doesn't keep so well together when water is  added. Neat it is spectacular.

I have this nagging feeling this one might be reracked. It shares cetain similarities with the Glendronach single cask series.
    • Nose
Oh wow. Grease, old pencils, pea pods, reeds, something like meat stock, then celery, and saltiness. Pocket of a leather coat, then something that reminds me of a 15yo Bellevue rum single cask I had a bottle of a while back.. Extremely unusual and as such very attractive. With water: more herbal and woody now. Like a red wine with old oak and quite a bit of earth.
    • Taste
Neat: The taste is a promising if a little closed still, but I can't tell if oloroso or px [in retrospect it's probably oloroso since I can't find any brown sugar notes] . Water: the body is still a little flat. Maybe it needs a lot of water? There is some of that old style whisky coppery oiliness here. I don't know how that happened but I do love it. Gets way oakier and more peppery with more water, but also waxier so that the wood doesn't overpower everything. This is well made, of that there is no doubt. More water is better, as the body becomes properly full.
    • Finish
The finish would be great if the body would be more present in it. Now it is a great mix of sherrywood and cocoa with tannins and that character wax, but leaves you wanting just a bit.
