Whisky Reviews for Highland Park 1989 MC

1 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.50 points

  1. alectron scored this whisky 88 points Specialist

    • Nose

      very
active smell (thick / chewy / viscous ). First malty & winey with
      a hint of wood.

      A
bit Later: more & older wood +/o, malt sweetness / dissolved malt
      drops +/o, some smoke o, flints / granite sawdust o/-, earthy o/-,
      chocolate -, hint of LPG – (87)
      Later:
sweeter & fruitiness comes in (somewhat fruit drops like, not
      fresh fruit, but nice) (88)
    • Taste

      smoke
      +/- & chocolate +, and a wall of other very combined &
      compact flavours (91)
W Water: brings the sherry to the fore that
was hiding quite well up to now and only the chocolate note gave a
      hint to it (88)
    • Finish

      somewhat
nutty (cashew & para nut) & dark/savoury [dark red] malt
sweetness with a winey/astringent finish and a touch of smoke (89)

      W
Water: more sherry. Overtaking the distillery character &
malt sweetness which was dominant before. Yummy, but I think I prefer
      this without water. (87)
