    Ohh boy ohh boy, this is pure intense and overpowering magic. That is huge sherry bomb goodness. I never knew that Glenrothes could taste this beautiful and mesmerizingly good. This whisky is young but actually very well matured.

    I can whole heartedly recommend this one especially for all you sherry bomb lovers out there.

      An intense, rich, concentrated and complex whisky with aromas of fino sherry, sweet sherry, sulfur, musty cellar, koffie, mocha, chocolate, fudge, leather, tobacco, dried fruits (sultanas, figs, dates, cherries, plums), bitter orange marmalade, backed apples, old books, antique wax, burned caramel, pinewood, ginger, toffee, roasted nuts, earthy tones, cognac, charred oak, black tea, dried flowers, marmite and rich oak.
    • Taste
      A powerful, intense, mouth coating, rich and complex whisky with aromas of pepper, chili peppers, fino sherry, Pedro Ximénez sherry, lemon peels, sulphur, dried fruits (Apricots, sultanas, figs, dates, plums), leather, rosewood, molasses, coffee, tannins, chocolate, orange peels, candied ginger, cinnamon, clove, brown sugar, forest honey, licorice root, marzipan, fudge, sweet tobacco, smoked ham, marmite, grapefruit peels, tutti-frutti, old tea and antique oak.  
    • Finish
      A very long and worming finish with aromas of sherry (fino as wel as sweet), tannins, pepper, chili peppers, nutmeg, clove, dried fruits, sulphur, bitter orange marmalade, forest honey, brown sugar and rich oak.

    Great whisky that honors WIN's 10-year jubilee. In my opinion, better than the 66.6% variant. Fuller and even more complex.
    The nose is powerful and full. Chocolate, fudge, raisins and full red fruit. The taste is full and powerful (listerine effect) an explosion of flavors. Finish is about as long as route 66, Endless .... that can not end!

    Had this one in a blind tasting. Well, if you would be colourblind, then the first sniffs on the glass would immediately tell you: Sherrycask... Actually, the sherrycask does all its work, not a single point of distillery profile here. It could be anything actually, fits perfectly in the range of heavy dark sherrybombs that hits the market at the moment.
    Okay, it is not that bad, but for me it's a '13 in a dozen' if it comes to sherrybombs.
    The only surprising part on this, is that the nose is very friendly actually, not hinting on a very high ABv at all. Until you take your first sip... than, alcohol hits you very hard.

      Very heavy on the sherrycask influence: Plums, red fruits, blueberries, leather. Very oily, not too hefty on the alcohol.
    • Taste

      Very powerful now, intense, pepper, spicy. Alcohol does its work now. Again a lot of red fruits, berries.

      Still very strong and intense. Again a lot of red fruits, plums, pretty long finish.

    ah yes, young Glenrothes on a sherry casks, often quite a good taste explosion!~

    and yes, indeed it is quite good! thick and full of all tradition sherry tones, but perhaps a bit too aggressive for my taste

    Part of ‘HWF Thuisfestival’ edition 4. Probably the biggest surprise of the evening.
    • Nose
      Well I guess there are sherry bombs and nuclear sherry bombs. This is definitely the last. Being able to bottle this after such a short maturation must require a high quality cask. But fair enough, there’s not much Glenrothes to be detected. It’s a burst of red fruits all over the place. But somehow it works really well. Normally I’m not that into heavy sherry bombs but I can appreciate this.

      Thick and a tad tannic. Again a burst of red fruits. But also a burst of very pleasant Arabic spices and dark chocolate. Lovely stuff!
    • Finish
      Not as long as one might expect but nonetheless very pleasant. Dried fruits, like figs and plumbs. Pipe tobacco comes through at the very end. I adore these flavors!

    Intense sherry bomb!

    In the nose, the sherry is very present with gingerbread.
    The taste is very intense and spicy with chili pepper.
    Warm and long finish.

    Only cask influence here, no recognizable distillate, but pleasantly warming anyway.

      A very heavy sherry influence. Soft leather, shoe polish, soft liquorice (trekdrop), savory and spicy, clove, cinnamon, some sweet soy sauce, sweet dark cherries, cocoa, dark chocolate, black tea.

      Very full and creamy, black honied liquorice, leather, espresso, very dark chocolate, cherries in the background, bay leaf, clove, ginger, chili peppers.
    • Finish

      Very long: sweet dark berries, sweet black liquorice, bay leaf, dusty on cocoa, pepper clove and ginger.

    Nose: Big big sherry with a capital B. Alcohol wise it’s also a monster, 60%s for sure, this is one hell of a dram! It’s quite meaty, and spicy (chilly, pepper, cinnamon gum), but also fruity with a tiny hint of spent matches.

    Palate: Boom! It’s hot and spicy, and the alcohol bite is HUGE. This is not a dram for those who appreciate light and complex whiskies, it’s in your face kind of a dram. Dried fruit galore, sherry colossus, sweet sugary stuff going on too. It’s a winter warmer for sure. I fancy that.

    Finish: Dried fruit, leather and spices.

    This is a Glenrothes from another world. I wish some OB Glenrothes would be a bit like that (Only a bit, yea?), since more is over the top. This is a yummy dram, and something to really look for if you’re a fan of big, bold, sherry monsters.I use to love that profile, but I find myself less and less attracted to monster drams these days.

    highly recommended for people who think Glenrothes make anaemic drams.

    The influence of sherry is clearly marked, made young (certainly because it is), a lot of chocolate, alcohol well integrated for the degree, caramel and a smell of wet wood not very pleasant. Alcohol and chocolate crush a little the rest in the mouth, caramel. Long final. Lack of fruit.

    Notes based on a blind sample. Impressive, probably young, whisky working together with a great, unsulphured, active cask. Not drying at all and very warming. Takes water very well, which is probably safer for your health.
    • Nose
      Pine forest, licorice, apple sauce. A dusty bookshelf. Leather. Treacle. Butter toffee. With water a hint of maggi appears.
    • Taste
      Very alcoholic, but not very sharp. The taste is very sweet, like licorice. Christmas spices: cinnamon and cloves. A little bit salty as well. The taste becomes more oily and the intensity of flavors is enhanced with a (not so small) splash of water.
    • Finish
      Leaves a nice afterglow in the throat. Cinnamon, brown sugar. Cherries. Stays sweet and slightly salty. In Holland we have 'zoute drop' a.k.a. salty licorice. It reminds me of that stuff (which I love).

    Phew, talk about a sherry bomb. This is good stuff! 
    • Nose
      Super intense, rich and concentrated. Dark chocolate, mocha, toffee and fudge. Orange, honey, leather and coffee. Also figs and dates.
    • Taste
      Cranberry, raisins, chili peppers and licorice. At such a high abv, don't be scared to add water. It is perfectly drinkable without, but even better with. Marzipan, some nuttiness as well.
    • Finish
      Super sweet, chili, toffee, mocha and mandarines.

    A whisky nicknamed. Rather good, but not elegant and lacking in complexity.
    • Nose
      Caramel, chocolate, dried fruits. Feeling old moldy. It's lively, it's young Alcohol is well integrated, but not great finesse.

      Texture rather dry, with notes of milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla. A bit of bitterness linked to wood. Together sweet enough. There, however, we feel the 66.8% .. Too young, too young ...
    • Finish
      Many woods, spices. Always the sherry notes seen previously, attenuated.

    In my opinion this is a 7 year old whisky and not a 6 years old. I do love it very much and Glenrothes is not my favorite at all, but this is very much worth buying. A good selection by WIN!!

    Nice combination of dark and light sherry notes, hard to believe it's a single cask of just one type of sherry. Reminds me a lot of the better old batches of the Aberlour A'Bunadh in that sense.

    When I lined up casks 3520, 3525 and 3526, this one appeared as the treacliest one of the three.88/89.
    • Nose
      Dark chocolate, toffee, dark cherry, fudge, prune, raisin, mocha, hazelnut paste (Nutella), coffee, cranberry, pink Tumtum candy, raisin, black tea and just a little mint.
    • Taste
      Dark cherry, prune, cranberry, cherry, raisin, hazelnut paste, liquorice and a little pepper. With water also caramel fudge, but also more spicy.
    • Finish
      Fudge, dark cherry, toffee, mocha, raspberry, coffee, hazelnut, apple and liquorice. Next morning (brushing your teeth doesn't help): marshmallows.

    If you like it so now and then fruity, sweet soft peppery, just try it. Some water will do the tric and more bang 4 your buck men.

      Loads of fruit, freshly cut grass... lovely and complex.

      Sweet fruity pack like red chili pepper, raspberries, papaya, a little toffee sauce..
    • Finish
      Wow! the finsh is sooo sweet and chili.. love it!
