  1. Thermidor scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

Tasted blind. I guessed it was a young Glen Grant.

Could maybe have gotten a score starting with 8, but unfortunately time had taken its toll on this bottle. Once again a reminder to all who trade old 40% bottles around, that they may have already lost their marbles even though the fill level is good. In this case the OBE was slight and entirely manageable, but the palate had flattened some.
    • Nose
Sweet apples and cut lawn. Calvados, light floral perfume notes, cut flowers, sour ale, soggy peanuts, and a wisp of petroleum.
    • Taste
Spey levels of peat (so not very much). Surprisingly soft on the tongue, nondescript even. There's some soft oak and ripe pears, but not much more. It doesn't exactly taste like a contemporary whisky, so maybe some 40-43% bottle from the 1980s? A young G&M Strathisla or Glen Grant? Faint chocolate in the back, but this bottle is a bit aired out, as there is a soapy/perfume-y note in the back that would probably only grow in the coming years.
    • Finish
Ripe pears with a bit of grass. Leaves quickly.
