    # # Blindtasting
    • Nose
Sweet, yellow fruits, also a bit tropical, vanilla, some caramel, some oak, a little bit of hairspray and of course a nice pinch of peat, but not too strong.
    • Taste
some plastic, quite strong, a bit ashy and warm, as well as bitter.
    • Finish
in the finish then somehow meaty, bouillon cubes, peaty.

  4. Othorion scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

I had tasted it in the store before I got myself a bottle. I like the (diluted) quite well. Fruit, oak notes and smoke are beautifully interwoven, without something totally dominated. Undiluted is not balanced but sprittig. I had to experiment with the amount of water for a while, until I found the right mix for myself, but I think it's worth it.
    • Nose
Nice, pleasant smoke, a little iodine, the alcohol burns neatly in the nose, but also like vanilla, mandarin and ginger, warm apple pie, oranges, for me unspecified Nussigkeit. The stinging alcohol decreases with time. With water: the same aromas, but the fruit notes increase significantly
    • Taste
Pur was too alcoholic to me. Tasted with a little water: warm, smoky, filling the mouth, lots of saliva, chili and ginger, honey, smoke and apples. Grapefruit, espresso
    • Finish
Medium, warming, slightly bitter grapefruit, espresso and campfire smoke

Very nice, not more, not less. After all, no 40%.
    • Nose
Nice smoke, public alcohol in the nose, vanilla and caramel.
    • Taste
First, very warm and cozy, a little sweet, then comes the alcohol and flatten almost all flavors, a bit of wood from the barrel remains. With a little water much more pleasing sweet and vanilla. I'll find some herbs and some menthol later. He seems a bit complex to me.
    • Finish
Long, a bit fresh and without smoke. He still warms a bit and sounds woody.

  7. WhiskyNotes scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Slightly fierce in some places, but also one that shows the nice strawberry and mandarin fruitiness that I really like. Better than Batch 5.

  8. KayMeertens scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

This one comes pretty close to batch 1, though a little more peaty, less fruity and less oaky. They really aren't miles apart though. I like this one better than the more salty batch 3.
    • Nose
Lime wine gums, peach, vanilla, chocolate, peat, lavender, pepper, tangerine and ginger. Gingerbread even, including a tad of honey and spice. With water some apple.
    • Taste
Lime, vanilla, tangerine, earthy peat and salt. Water adds apple again.
    • Finish
Now the peat really comes through to join the lime and vanilla notes. Plus a gingery note like from Chinese sweet & sour sauce.

  9. Dutchmill scored this whisky 85 points Expert Junior

I prefer batch 2 over batch 3 and 4. This one is too sweet.
    • Nose
cinnamon, ginger, grapefruit, gula java, caramel, mint, thyme honey, medicinal herbs, shoe polish, wax, some kiwi?, vanilla, coconut, olive soap, rye, 'rose' petals
    • Taste
fresh mint, grapefruit, citrus zest, candied ginger, slightly smoky, mouthfeel of melted butter, oily
    • Finish
sweet, spicy, slightly bitter (grapefruit), honey licorice, thyme

@ Milanista, the 4th is definitely not my favourite batch, but all Tempests do better if you give them water & a lot of time (+45 mins), especially batch 1 & 3 do develop very nice & complex lemon notes.
