A red berry/red fruit bomb with a nice peppery spiciness. Interesting and intriguing.
    • Nose
The nose without water is harsh and demanding. Plums and sweet cherries. Some water does even things out, bring forth more red berries and fruits. Strawberries, raspberries, vanilla, banana. Some plum-ey bitterness. Really nice.
    • Taste
Sweet, very sweet to be honest. Vanilla, strawberries, plums, cacao, honey, white pepper. Again, water evens everything out.
    • Finish
Sweet and spicy. Cinnamon, strawberries and honey. Very enjoyable.

Combination of softness and extreme force that bangs the nose at first. Approach with caution! Explosive! Then cherry with brandy (which stings!) And vanilla, which will rise in power as and when. Suspicion of incense. On the palate, corpulent, creamy, with spices, cherry and a touch of wood. In swallowing, vanilla expresses itself with a lot of softness and roundness. Very nice balance between bourbon and port wine. Final with just enough sugar. With water, the spicy nose disappears, giving way to strawberry candies, all in a very warm atmosphere. There is now more sugar in the mouth and in the finish, which adds an extra shade of red fruit before going out.

    Enthusiasm 4/5

  3. St. Pauli scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
A bit soapy, but further: fresh mint, stewed fruits (plums, strawberries), later also honey and vanilla, (barley)sugar. With water: earthier, even a bit sooty.
    • Taste
Sweet, but hot. Plums, strawberries, honey, barley and vanilla. But most importantly: pepper!
    • Finish
Long, slightly spicy, but also fruity and honeyed.

An exciting whisky and a well-working experiment with many warming and mouth-coating winey notes which are nicely integrated.
    • Nose
Without water: Strong alc., redcurrants, Kir, cherries, vanilla, cloves in the background.
With water: Hints of wine gum and bourbon are "fighting" each other, very lively and playful. Intense and warming. The combination of Bourbon and Port Casks is lovely and leads to nuances of passionfruit, mangosteen and banana.
    • Taste
Without water: Heavy and lingering berry flavours. Cherries, raspberries with vanilla ice cream, cassis, cinnamon. Beautiful warming interplay of Port, alcohol and wood spice. Despite the heavy strength this works without water (I recommend adding a few drops though).
With water: fizzy, fresh and fruity - surprising transformation regarding its form. Raspberry compote with mint and just a hint of curry powder. Mashed bananas with a drop of Port. In the middle it becomes tarter, with a drop of old balsamico. Sweeter again in the back of the tongue, with a little ginger tea.
    • Finish
Long and sweet with some refreshing acidity and some oak.

  6. Pépé scored this whisky 83 points Expert Junior

Tasted blind. It is strong, it feels the young alcohol raised in barrel bousiné history to round it a little and finished in sherry see in port.
Typically the kind of whisky I'm happy to have tasted, but I'm glad I did not have an open bottle in the bar. Although, with time, will know. It makes me think of my A'Bunadh # 46, a violent sherry without great finesse.
    • Nose
Beautiful magnitude. Nuts, port, sugar, caramel. Many nuts even. It has a plum brandy side, quite crude, naked. We must be very high in ABV. Some fruits back, but remaining in the state of sensation, not very defined. Well, I ask to be convinced by the mouth wholesale.
    • Taste
It's actually beefy, all about plum. What an attack in this sense! Then some caramel, a lot of sugar.
The end of the mouth brings back aromas of bousiné wood, between a light smoke and vanilla and spices.

The nose is particular, the mouth surely more consensual is nonetheless complex. Limit alcohol but it stays pretty well balanced for whisky more than 60%.
    • Nose
Sherry typed plant, rooty, earthy, see medicinal. Very surprising. A distant smoke. Light veil of chocolate, wood, honey and bake.
    • Taste
The palate is intense, tonic and very slightly alcoholic. The wood has really marked this whisky. In addition to tannins well present, woody notes, toasty, vinous, as well as leather, chocolate, and many spices (nutmeg, cloves).
    • Finish
Long and powerful on cocoa and varnished furniture and spices.
