As usual the  official tasting notes by SMWS bear no more than a distant passing resemblance to what I was drinking?

You have to really work at this to get anything from it.its like an aged blend profile wise which  is no bad thing.
    • Nose
Weird nose, metallic to be honest, sweet smoke, musty, a little orange and possibly ginger but slightly different. There is also an off note that detracts from the enjoyment
    • Taste
Overripe plum, oyster sauce, wafer, biscuit, salted caramel and a cloying dryness.
    • Finish
      Quite long getting sweeter.

    SMWS Tasting Notes

The nose had an odd but attractive assortment of perfumes – Tiger balm, putty, menthol, eucalyptus, pine and tobacco; sushi pickled ginger or Jamaica cake; tea, malt loaf and blueberry muffins – full, complex and somehow reassuring. The unreduced palate was big, sweet and spicy – lots of variations on chocolate ginger biscuits; Madeira sponge, stewed apples, Demerara and sweet tobacco. The reduced nose somehow combined Green & Blacks ginger chocolate and Turkish Delight with linseed oil, Swarfega and church incense. The palate now successfully balanced dark and mysterious brown sugar and ginger sweetness with juicy fruits. From the distillery next to Glenlossie.

    Color: Yellow gold

Nose: Caramel, bitter orange jam, yellow fruits / pears, wax, also a little bit alcoholic, with water bitter lemon.

Palate: Wow! Starts off quite heavy on caramel, alcohol is dominant, after a few seconds the alcohol gives way for the more nice aromas, oily, waxy, fruity again.

Finish: Long, first fruity and with time moving over to the more caramel side.

With water: more fruit, less caramel, less alcoholic.

Upshot: Despite the heavy alcohol at first a very nice bottling - give this dram some time in the glass and you will be rewarded.
