- Quite pleasant and delicious, the green notes would blindly let me tap on an Irishman, the sherry is not too dominant, altogether quite balanced and sometimes another alternative and ok for the price.
some alcohol, oily, slightly sour, tannins, fleshy, "bloody", and a little flowery, then sprittig and dried fruit, into which fresh fruit like plums, cherries mix and also a bit 'green' like the Irish, like pine needles
strong onset, "hot", fruity, cherries, plums, "green" like pine needles, sweet / sour, a slight sherry note
the sherry and the "green" pine needle notes fade away, oak oysters gradually come to the fore until they finally remain
- Xeres nose, encaustic, suggestion of foliage, dilution brings dried fruits. The bitter and dry attack on the caramel and the wood (with a light rancio) softens in honey then in nougatine. Long finish on nougatine. Dram good no more.
- Slightly like fruit salad, floral sweet, mildly packaged with 46% alcohol.
At any rate, it tastes better than it smells.
Remains slightly dry, creamy and sweet pleasant in memory.
- A very interesting, different single malt. This doesn’t really taste like anything I can think of. It’s strangely nice to drink, with that odd mix of sweetness and herbal aromas. Nice for a change of venue and very enjoyable.
Very sweet first on, honey mostly. Chopped herbs, like rosemary or something like eucalyptus or mint. Citrus peel, cinnamon and chocolate. Perhaps a marzipan note hiding in the back, maple syrup too.
Again, quite sweet. The eucalyptus/mint note is the first thing I get, then a cinnamon/sugar sweetness, maybe even coffee. Tree sap, oak sharpness, chocolate and marzipan again. Quite herbal again, combined with that deep sweetness.
A slight bitterness from the oak and eucalyptus, sweet after that with chocolate and mocha. Warming in the throat, thick on the tongue, lingering and smooth.
- Nice try, but it´s ending up with sherry & oak only and it will be difficult to remember as it´s missing complexity.
- What an interesting whisky. I was ready to write it off when this huge transformation happened with the nose. It became a different whisky.
It tremendously benefits with time in the glass.
Mint; grassy; spirit (new-make); engine oil.
With water - vanilla; candy floss
After 1 hour - it opened up finally and changed completely as if it were different whisky in the glass - light vanilla flavoured waffles.
Sweet right away; sherry; dried fruits; fresh fig; a touch of salt.
Short, a bit drying on the top of the tongue.
- I bought this malt for three reasons 1: It was a very good price
2: I do like the sherry cask whiskies 3: I have tried Penderyn before and I am a big fan. I wasn`t disappointed I thought it was a great whisky and highly recommend it to people who also like this type. Look forward to trying their peated range.
- I bought this in Keswick as a treat to myself with some left over birthday money. A treat it was, lovely.
Vanilla, Chocolate orange, Honey, Syrup, Old leather and cinder toffee. Smells a lot like a Bourbon, which isn't a bad thing.
There is a nice creamy sweetness in the taste with spice, mixed summer fruits and a lot of oak wood.
A medium dry but sweet toffee finish with black wine gum on the death.
