My passions in life are my wife and kids, whisky, movies, music and the great out doors.
Every two weeks I help run a movie club in the city of Durham where we show mostly foreign, independent, art house and the odd classic.
Every Thursday I attend a Speakeasy at my local pub which is conveniently at the end of my street. It has a wonderful range of real ales which is what I am really into. There is live music which is mostly blues and folk. The acts that play range from local, national and international. Once a month I also attend another blues club in the city centre that is much bigger and has bigger acts. It is ran by the same people that run the Speakeasy.
Every second Wednesday of the month I attend a Sons of the Desert Laural and Hardy appreciation society at a pub on the other side of the river. Lots of fans gather from all over the North East and West to drink, talk and most importantly watch Laural and Hardy. We start of with a silent feature then a talkie short and finish with one of their long features. When Stan and Ollie visited the Sunderland Empire they would stop at this pub so it has a strong connection.
When I am not drinking whisky, taking notes, doing specialist duties and generally contributing to Whiskybase I like to rake around antique and charity shops, markets and car boot sales for anything whisky related for my whisky room.
I also have an allotment where I grow my own fruit and veg.
Basically if I'm not working I'm doing something.
