  1. lincolnimp scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

86 points all round for me, this style is pretty much extinct apart from some Strathmill.
As soon as I tasted this I was reminded of the 1970 11 year 46% Samaroli bottling.
So between 1970-1983 the key components of the profile remained intact.
Not a modern designer whisky but a blast from the past.
    I like it.
    • Nose
Yellow & white fruit gums is what struck me first then cream, wafer, hint of lemon, candle wax and faint shoe polish.
I would describe the nose as pleasant rather than expressive.
After a few minutes iced buns.
    • Taste
Creamy palate and quite lively for 43% and plenty of cereal and grassy notes in the mix
It actually gets a little harsh at the back of the throat, spirity, that sort of thing and then the cream returns, milky in consistency.
More white fruits then come through, this is an old style grassy highlander
    • Finish
It is actually quite refreshing with some lemon sherbet fizz but also getting a little dry
