Not a fan. The nose is alright and I can well understand the 10% peated malt in the mix since it does add some body and complexity, both of which are sorely needed, but the taste isn't to my liking and the finish is nonexistent. I don't much care for Redbreast 12 but would have that over this any day.

The packaging confuses me. It says "single malt" but also "double malt" and "triple malt".
    • Nose
Young. Supermarket apple juice, flour, faint booziness. It feels quite sweet. I completely miss the peaty notes the first time but after having a sip I can find that wisp of herbal tablets on the nose as well, and also just a bit of poo, which probably is the peaty make clashing with the oloroso casks.
    • Taste
Without the addition of the peated make this would be a dime-a-dozen apples and pears and fruit candy dram that can't be distinguished from others like it, but the peat adds a touch of medicinal notes and some thickness to the body. Supermarket chocolate and fruit candy bits.

The problem for me is that all of this is a bit vague and when I try to roll the whiskey in my mouth, I get these cloyingly sweet and artificial candy notes that make me feel this is mostly a cask-made cocktail. It's not bad and might go over well for a beginner, but it's not much of a treat for an enthusiast.
    • Finish
      There isn't much happening here.
