  1. Thermidor scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

A hard one to score: The nose starts out in the high 80s, but the palate and especially the finish don't follow, and an initially minuscule note of sulfur gets stronger the longer the whisky stays in the glass. While this is an interesting whisky to try, my score reflects that I wouldn't know what to do with an entire bottle because the more the sulfur comes out, the more it overshadows all the other notes.
    • Nose
Starts off nicely with this sherry that isn't the usual milk chocolate type. Instead you get apple juice, Hartwall apple soda, European oak spices, and hazelnuts in mulled wine. Some hard fruit candy drops, and faint cereals. With water I get dry dark chocolate, and stronger hazelnuts and extinguished matches.
    • Taste
Faint matches, then apple juice, a bit of leather and mulled wine. Water makes it bitter as the tannins start to come up, drying my tongue first, and then spreading all over my mouth. More time and water both just release more tannins and sulfur, and what started out as a promisingly juicy sherry whisky slowly degrades as the cask's flaws become more tangible.
    • Finish
Long on that sherry fruit note but not much else. With water it is far too drying.
