All simply magnificent. Perfect balance, like her "private stock" sister cask.
Maybe even more fruity, but a little less "camphorated and rolled up".

    • Nose
      94 94
A nose of rare fruity intensity. That's wonderful.
Blood orange, apricot, peach, lemon, wild strawberry.
      Honey, wax,
Noble wood, with an overlay of Christmas spices. Cinnamon, clove.
A hint of meringue. A little medicinal side on the bandage, again strongly indented.
    • Taste
      95 95
In the mouth it is particularly suave.
Liquid honey, yellow fruits. Peach, apricot, in jam.
      Mango, papaya, pepper, cocoa.
We have a lot more sherry aromas here, with leather, shoe polish. Precious wood is just to die for.
And always these spices, this clove
    • Finish
      94 94
Endless finish on yellow fruit jam, light leather, wax, eucalyptus.

A crystallised fruit basket of high quality with touches of the best Clynelish.
A very expressive whisky, water is recommended to release all the fruit flavours.
    • Nose
      94 94
A huge basket of stewed fruits, Christmas fruits the crystallised type fruit jellies, various fruit peels, orange, lemon, lime, shoe polish, furniture polish and something a little medicinal and then a few grassy notes, smelling more like a rich liqueur as you go on.
The orange spice note mixed with iron-brew/Lucozade is a real treat.
    • Taste
      93 93
Rich, viscous and it has a clynelish waxiness like the highly acclaimed 17 year manager's dram but there is more, a superb fruit gum mix on top of that.
There is some peat mixing with the fruit and there is a slight walnut taste in the mix with an almost Cointreau like edge but the few drops of water have not tamed this enough so I will add a few more.
Yes much better , less sherbet fizz that allows the succulent fruit to shine
    • Finish
      94 94
Rich, layers of fruit and something medicinal but I cannot put my finger on it.
It gets really syrupy and the fruit zest washes over your tongue

Nose: multivitamin juice (Sanostol, if you still know it) and lots of honey of all kinds (herbs, forest, etc.), light smoke, mirabelle plums, light fruits

Taste: what a great start with a huge punch, compote made from ripe, tropical fruits, mineral and waxy, again honey and fruit syrup, creme brulee

Finish: long-lasting, sticks to the palate and resonates for a long time

Conclusion: definitely the best Caper '72 I've had in my glass so far, a shame about the still ...

Oatmeal, tropical fruits, ripe mangos, dried papayas, apricot peach, pear, grapefruit, spices and cedar wood, superb power and balance, brilliant

Oh yeah. He is delicious! Really nice balanced and complex malt. I'm so refill sherry malts with their yellow fruits.
    • Nose
Wow is the fruity. But rather goes in the direction of yellow fruits. Apricot jam. Yellow gooseberry. In yellow butter glazed apples. Physalis. Accompanied by an elegant, spicy wood note and a little nut. Removes a bit of wet leaves.
It becomes even more fruity with water. They even go something tropical. Horny fruit salad.
    • Taste
He has pure power of course. But not uncomfortable. In the mouth, the spice is now stronger and gives a nice interplay between the yellow fruit and the spice. Maybe also some wax. In short, something incense? Now it gets a bit more bitter. Orange peel.
With water, it is creamy and it comes first a lot of honey.
    • Finish
      Ginger. Dusty wood. Grapefruit.

Would like to try this again some day but it was an absolute winner for me. One of the top whiskies on my list and it was truly an amazing dram.

Fruit de fruit, honey glazed tropical fruits. Very well balanced and it spent 40 minutes in just nosing this dram. Hope to find it again some day... (it demotes my other Caperdonich to a b-level whisky and I am not sure if I am happy with that...)

    Fantastic! Powerful and complex dram
