    one of the "old"!
explosive nose, peppery, woody and fresh fruits and candied!
the alcohol seems stronger than what is titrated
fruit on the soaked raisin, candied orange, intense oak, some oily nuts and coffee with cream.
the mouth gives a pastry sensation with mocha cream (vanilla and coffee of yesteryear (from my mother !!)), a little grassy also macerated red fruits.
the finish is long enough passing woody, ripe fruit, cocoa van houten there!
    a delight!

Retaste as bottle is going to be finished (2010/11/16 batch) and the first rating was at the start of my whisky career. Rating for price based on original price in 2011. Survived 6 years open very well.

  5. Pyromann scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

Excellent whisky ripened in sherry barrels. The influence of sherry is really good here, especially in taste, but in such a really nice form - it is not very sour, sweet, just great.
    • Nose
Sweet, fruity - chocolate - sherry (wine) tones
    • Taste
The taste is delicate, beautifully balanced, smooth, there is the great influence of the sherry who has enjoyed this whisky. Perfect piece.
    • Finish
It is not extra long or intense, but pleasant smoke, peat, then perhaps some wood

Very good development in the glass. Keeps you amused all the time.I wish this was a bit more sticky and oily in the mouth. Also it is on the prickly side.
    • Nose
Sweet, cocktail cherries, ripe tropical fruits (mango), thyme, sage, dark dry fruits. A hint of wet cardboard (sort of dirty aroma there).
Water: more dried prunes and ripe fruit. With time it takes to very interesting directions. More herbs are emerging.
    • Taste
Very good mouth feel. Great balanced sweetness, sherry. Peppery bites but good balance between the various sensations. Some bitterness too (grapefruit white peels).
Water: some overripe oranges come out towards the back.
    • Finish
Long, with dried prunes and just a bit drying and touch of bitterness.

Now I wanted to be surprised
    that did not succeed
the sweetness was too boring for me
the departure too one-sided and too bitter does not make me nervous but okay
    • Nose
darker sweetness than in 12er, soft cherries, caramelized slices of orange and apples,> given time> wood, hazelnut shrubs in midsummer> Butterkaramell
    • Taste
feel much more alcohol feeling than the 12er
Marzipan with cherries and vanilla, caramel> wood, grape seeds, becomes dry and bitter
    • Finish
      short to medium ...
Gentle association with mulled wine> Clove nutmeg, some gingerbread spice> becoming woodier> bitter

I agree that the value for money ratio of the 15yo Revival is unbeatable.

It is way ahead of the 12yo Original and in my opinion even better balanced than the 18yo Allardice.

For me, the Glendronach 15 Revival is the best value for money whisky available at the moment. There`s a great sweetness to it, so much so that my wife (a  non whisky drinker) likes it.

Nose, Taste and Body are excellent, i feel that the finish doesnt quite do it justice, but nevertheless and excellent Whisky from a Distillery that is kicking ass right now!

http://www.weinkenner.de/2013/glendronach-tasting-teil-1-standardabfuellungen-gute-qualitaet-fuer-kleines-geld-27903/ Color: full gold with amber stitch
Nose: sherry, glue, malt, honey, caramel, salt, gum, dull notes (cardamom), orange juice, slightly musty stale smell, herbs, eucalyptus and cocoa.
Taste: Sweet malt in combination with cocoa and chocolate. In addition, astringent herbs, nuts and a light fruitiness, which is rounded off with underlaid wood notes.
Finish: Medium long, with hints of smoky wood, cocoa powder and coffee beans, which fade out with only a slight orange fruit flavor and quite dry.
    85 points (nose: 84 / taste: 85 / finish: 86)

Adding a little water takes down the spices but without changing the rest of the palate
    • Nose
Slightly oily nose with a touch of new make, caramel chocolate sherry
    • Taste
Sweet warm spicy with a growing taste, fruits and vanilla
    • Finish
Long and drying off a bit at the end

    Tasting Notes by the Bottler:

Appearance: Deep gold with a lovely mahogany heart.

Nose: Incredible concentration of aromas. Treacle toffee and chocolate orange. Nutty notes and vanilla.

Palate: A very dynamic and full bodied dram. Chewy with coffee, chocolate and treacle scones.

Finish: A veritable feast to enliven the senses.

    Effective and unbeatable Q / P ratio!
    • Nose
Cool enough on the nose. The sherry is there, the fruits too. A little alcoholic.
    • Taste
Light in the mouth but powerful in taste. He explodes. The sherry is confirmed with a touch of smoke.
    • Finish
Final moderately long and warming. The sherry persists long enough with this little acidity not unpleasant.

Drink it between 15 and 18 degrees C, that keeps the sulphury notes on a lo level. For me, it's an enjoyable winter dram, nothing for hotter summer days.
    • Nose
Lots of sherry and sweet barley at the start. Then fruity, first sweet oranges, then cherries soaked in brandy. Mildly spiced, such as cloves, cinnamon and little peppermint. Great nose!
    • Taste
Sweet on sherry and barley sugar, dried fruits. Cherries in dark chocolate. Zesty and fresh. Getting nuttier. Mushrooms and truffles. Good balance.
    • Finish
Medium long, getting drier on milk chocolate and unsweetened coffee. Some truffles again.

Clear display of Oloroso sherry with a rich variety of ingredients such as basil, mushrooms, raisins and walnuts liqueur. Further fall flavors of soy, mint, smoke and carbon perceive, a complex composition but very nicely balanced, exciting and elegant at the same time

    • Taste
Full and rich flavor with delicious hints of sherry and tones of coffee, chocolate, prunes, dates and dried banana. Notes of rich variety of spices (cloves, cinnamon and anise soft). Again, complex but also nicely balanced.
    • Finish
Long finish with hints of blueberries herbs that gently flowing

Taste: strong onset, very voluminoes, filling the whole mouth, sweet, individual notes are difficult for me to identify, slightly peppery, coffee, dark chocolate
Finish: long-lasting, the tinges remain on the tongue for a very long time, dark toenas like dark chocolate and espresso

I have compared the Solstice 15y yet, and this adds another dimension to the smell, and this is like the sweetness that is lacking in the Solstice.
Good winter drinking. I did the correction of the rating, and it was upwards. Originally, I had a small sample in a blind test when I gave 84 points, today, when I finish the bottle I later got from Jesus, I must say that I grossly underestimated her at that time. He is a great representative of the richly sneaky style. A beautiful color, an intoxicating scent, full of flavor. Whisky to which she remembers. She would deserve a place in sherry delicacies in the selection for beginners. Final score 88 points.
    • Nose
It has a grace, full of bitter spice.
    • Taste
Mighty, woody, smashing alcohol, cinnamon and bitterness, in the finish again spiced reverie.

    Nice, pleasant as usual. (87)

Very nice whisky with none of the sulphur seen in the first release.
    • Nose
Orange biscuits and Pear's soap. Lavender, heather, honey and draff.
    • Taste
Marmalade, honey, sweet lemon sugar. Quite tannic.
    • Finish
Malty, tannic, sweet and mid length

Love the sherry in this one. This was at the whisky fest this year and was incredible. Look for this one to go fast though. Very affordable and for the quality it is a quick seller.

  39. MARS scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Nose: Compote and slightly acidulous red fruits. A lot of mocha / coffee. A few tannins. Very melted.
    Stuffy :
Complex with coffee (which dominates), mint, eucalyptus,
walnut, precious wood (several essences) in the end of the mouth and
blackberry. Beautiful balance and easy / pleasant to drink (more for me than the
2009 version even if it is less complex)
    Final:
Always these notes of coffee mixed with notes of brown sugar, menthol,
mildew, dead leaves and a slight earthy side. The final is
    very long.

    Comments:
Less powerful than the 2009 version, it seems to me more melted and more
pleasant to drink. The whole of the notes reminds you at
chocolate. Excellent value for money that greatly improves
over the air. Enjoy a little water without changing
    His profile.
    87pts

  40. Feusi scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Butterscotch or vanilla fudge with hints of dried fruits in the nose. The malty sweetness will be displaced from some spicy wooden notes. Short to middle finish. Let`s say, it is not the old 15yo, but a good revival. Wit an overall rating of 87 points, a bottle you may buy.

  41. alectron scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

I saw that there's at least 2 batches, judging by the bottle codes. My bottle-code for the 2010 version looks like this:

    L 12.04.10

    3 11:14 BB

I would assume that that yours will look slightly different though as I guess the 11:14 is the time when it has been filled.

However, it would be interesting to see on how many different days in 2010 they actually did bottlings of this.
