Conclusions. The aroma is rather weak due to the lack of strength. The taste and aftertaste look more attractive. Strange, but in the last two stages, the commercial fortress affects to a lesser extent. I want to note that this is far from the first DoubleWood that I have ever tried, and I cannot say that I have ever been delighted with them. This is a typical relaxation whisky and nothing more. Grade 80
    • Nose
Aroma: intensity and richness is so-so. Inexpressive fruits (something like peaches and a ripe green apple), light honey and wine shades, a little vanilla. All this is clearly manifested only at the very beginning. The main slope here is directed towards freshly cut wood and plant motifs. After a couple of sips, the wood becomes moderately spicy, with a slight increase in intensity. Pleasant, fresh, but, frankly, uninteresting. Heavily impoverished because of the humiliating fortress for Balvenie.
    • Taste
Taste: Surprisingly energetic for a 40% abv, with a slight tingle and slight sweetness. At the first sip, a little peppery and rather meager. Later it becomes more dense. In the foreground, an abundance of fragrant freshly sawn dry oak and notes of hay. Some distance away, a little bit of raisins and honey, discreet soft spices, faint creamy shades, tart spicy herbs. Over time, a pleasant smell of perfume appears, the sharpness of the spices increases somewhat, an earthy-burnt aftertaste of an alcoholic barrel appears in combination with moderate tannins. There is definitely more wood here than required, but, nevertheless, everything is within the acceptable range. For me personally, the taste is much more interesting than the aroma.
    • Finish
Finish: between short and medium, soft, slightly sweet, discreetly spicy. In the end, moderately dry, slightly tart with the aroma of fresh sawdust of dry oak and light earthy-burnt notes of an alcoholic barrel.
