Whisky Reviews for Isle of Jura Superstition

- I think this is quite a polarizing whisky... Some people like it, while many, like myself, abhors it. Opened it two years ago, and never touched it again. The reason: it tastes like puke, seriously.
- A wonderful malt!
- Crafted from a selection of the finest aged Jura single malt whiskies, this mysterious spirit has a unique style and character, where tastes of spice, honey, pine and peat with a whisper of smoke make a dramtic impact.
Silver Best in Class at the 2009 IWSC Awards.
- I really wanted to like this Whisky. After being completely unimpressed with the 10 year old, I was told to try this one as it has much more about it. First impressions, the sweet toffee sugary nose is what hits first, then you notice the light smoke. This too comes through in the first taste, almost sickly sweet. Not too bad at all, but then a flavour, slightly marzipan, appears which seems to unbalance it and ruins the finish (hate the taste of marzipan). By the 2nd mouthful its all I can then taste. Luckily the finish is quite weak and short, so this quickly disappears.
Still yet to find a nice jura, if only it tasted as good as the packaging looks!
- Not my favorite Jura.
Peat. Apple tart. Pine cones. Marzipan. Dried earth. Sunflower seeds.
Softly smoky. Sweet and nutty. Puff pastry. Grassy.
Sweet and a bit spicy. Hints of peat in the background (I found this after a few sessions with this dram). Medium/short length.
- This one I bought when I was visiting Jura in 2009
