The finish is the best part, a little too long in the cask this one.
    Still a nice whisky
    • Nose
      90 90
This noses stronger than 46%, a rich , fruity, dusty sherry of the old school variety.
With the dark fruits of blackberry, blackcurrant and some nice blueberry but also a hint of redcurrants.
A warm treacle tart note is really nice , with fruit peels.
I am guessing by how this noses that this is not going to be particularly sweet on the palate?
    • Taste
      88 88
It is feisty on the palate, plenty of fizz from a bucket load of spice but it is not a sweet one.
This is on the woody side, you can taste it through the spice, it does get a little sweeter with some caramel and stewed dark fruit, but the spice from the wood wins out in the end
    • Finish
      92 92
The finish is long, warming and well just right to be honest, very good
