    The nose is pretty un-Bowmore, dirty, tar and gazoline. In the body it's very intense, but now more sweetness en smoky, more recognizable as a Bowmore. Interesting, good and pleasant dram for sure.

      Strong alcohol, peat, but also some real odour of gazoline, dirty. Tar. Also a little of menthol. Pretty un-Bowmore-like actually. Then suddenly some white chocolate, the buttery kind of aroma's.
    • Taste
      88 88
      It starts off pretty smooth, then it comes in pretty intense. Sweet and peat, sweet smoke, with also some tobacco. A bit of peach, honey, white chocolate. Full bodied, pretty mature for only 8yo.
    • Finish
      87 87
      Still strong and powerful, pretty some pepper. Sweet smoke, honey. Pretty long finish. Still intense. Bonfire smoke remains. Then again some buttery taste.

    Tasting Notes by Adelphi;

    1 of only 583 bottles from cask no. 1126

    Another young-but-perfectly-formed malt, this time from a refill butt which has bestowed only a pale amber colour to the spirit. A slight nose prickle, then full-on Islay character – more phenolic than one would expect of Bowmore: foot baths, sheep dip, carbolic and Coal Tar soap. After a while buttery-minty toffee (Murraymints) – fresh as a sea breeze, sweet malt and a whiff of farm dairies. At full strength the taste is sweet, with cigarette ash in the aftertaste. Water makes for more fruit – blackcurrant leaves, even Ribena – lurking behind tablet/toffee (McCowan’s Highland Toffee to be precise), and somewhere a wet Oban Times. Now the taste is even sweeter and fruitier, and the smoky elements reduced (now no dirty ashtrays!).

  8. alectron scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      leather +, smoke o, wood o, burnt creme brulee o, peppermint o, shoepolish -, salty -, some light sherry notes -, wine/grapes -. very prickly if close up (after a longer period of air [20 mins]: dry black tea?, even later: a lot of chocolate - 88, great nose for the age
    • Taste
      sweeter than expected (vanilla, honey), smooth but with a slight stingy/prickly-ness to be expected at 60%.
    • Finish
      c/old burnt wood, chalk, fairly long but not very complex (straight line if you will), better after a bit of breathing. first ~84, later ~87
