This whisky is bursting with fruit, cereal, and especially strawberries. More than just a well crafted whisky, it transported me to another place. I keep finding myself thinking back to it. The mark of a truly great dram.

Scores 7/10 for now, I would rather say 8 but these single casks are a tad pricey in my opinion. Lovely stuff!
    • Nose
A rich sweety nose full of fruits and flowers! At first on pear and blackcurrant cordial, and a rich cereal, malt note. Then greengages, whitecurrants, honeysuckle, fennel, banana, light dill and hint of pear drop (but the esters are very restrained and elegant). Huh! This seems to get better and better with time, showing some white chocolate now.
    • Taste
A little wound at first, promising, but we decide quickly it'll be best with water. With water then: full-bodied arrival quickly turns sharp on big lemon, with zest and rind, even some kind of lemon resin (should that exist). Develops through peaches and apricots, then quite perfumed, with honeysuckle and a walk in a herb garden. Quite a long finish on the above with a sweet barley sugar note appearing over time.

Fruity (mixture of ripe orchard fruits and a few tropical ones too) and grassy nose, delivering a classic (St Magdalene-like) lowland profile. Plenty of evidence of the cask too, with creamy coconut, pencil shavings and a touch of honey. A couple of drops of water helped greatly, enhancing the spirit characteristics whilst moving the cask more into the background. Lovely stuff, and a profile I personally warm too. Very similar profile on the palate, with grassy notes, alongside some chilli pepper, first to be found, before the fruity notes gradually appear. Again, classic bourbon-matured lowland profile, which is great! The finish is the only slight let-down (otherwise this would have been a 90 for me). It is long and grassy, but slightly too drying and bitter at the very end for my palate. Very pleased to get to try this (my first Daftmill) and I’m excited to see how this unique profile develops into the future.
