Just moments after this release was announced by email earlier today it was sold out in the Whisky Base shop. I'm not sure how long it's actually been available online, but the decent people at Whisky-Raritäten Andermann think they can now sell it for 275 euros. Initial price (on the very same day, i.e. today!): 120 euros... @Whisky Base: please put WRA on your black list.

    Update 03-10-2019:
Hold your horses! Whisky-Raritäten Andermann has lowered their price from 275 euro to 199,50 euro, keeping it just under the 200 euro mark. That's called psychological pricing (based on the theory that, because we read from left to right, the first digit of the price resonates with us the most). This rather substantial price-drop may very well be related to Whisky-Maniac's offering of "just" 189,99 euro (again, psychological pricing).

Remember, the initial price, just over a week ago, was 120 euro (without any need for psychology since that was a fair price).

Nose: Slight smoke and a clear citrus note rise from the Glencairn. The spectrum ranges from sweet canned mandarins to salted lemons. At first, these notes are rather restrained. With some time in the glass, however, they become more intense and insanely busy. In addition, fresh cake dough, vanilla, a touch of marzipan, overripe pear and the typical heather herbs are there, but keep in the background. Despite the strength, the nose is soft at the same time and brings along creamy notes. Very successful nose, but it takes time.

Taste: Even in the glass, the malt draws ordinary streaks, which then also line the mouth oily. There's cake dough, surprisingly little wood, vanilla, orange juice, strawberries, honey, milkmaid, salted caramel sauce, aperol. Then the second sip more spicy. Somewhat less complex than the nose.

Finish: Creamy, paraffin, some dry wood, honey and some organ-grind.

Conclusion: A very nice non-Scapa with finesse and yet neat power. That's what for the afternoon hours instead of coffee and cake. But even in the winter he fits with the orange and its sweetness. The nose is the definite star in comparison. I like it very much.

Thanks to Slàinte Mhath for this sample.
    A decent 21YO HP.
The release price was probably right on the money.
I enjoyed this after a pre-rebrand 18YO. It's more complex and a higher ABV, still it didn't quite reach up to that one for me.
    • Nose
      90 90
      A clear HP nose.
Very crisp and bright. Have to go deep in to detect the ABV.
Lots of complex citrus notes, sweet, bitter, salty.
Very light and mild smoke, some wood shavings.
Dry hay and a sprinkle of dried mediteranian spices.
Water brings forth more sweetness, white fruit, pear, peach, yellow apple.
    • Taste
      88 88
      Almost a dry waxy texture.
      Spices up front.
The citrus is there as on the nose, both sweet, bitter and a little salty.
      Some nuts, bitter almonds.
A little water doesn't hurt, the spice rounds off a little in strenght but expands in taste.
Not as waxy, more creamy with more noticable notes of melted dark chocolate fudge.
    • Finish
      85 85
Neat it is long and warming. Quite dry.
Water lightens and somewhat shortens the finish a bit, still a good medium+ and remains on the dry side.

Fresh nose, lime, vanilla, honey and freshly cut grass.
The taste is fresh, mint, lime, vanilla and light honey.
The finish is also fresh, light and pleasant.
Despite the specified 21 years, it seemed to me much younger - no more than 12. A good malt, but not enough "cut".
I would try to withstand it for another half a year / year in a good sherry barrel (or, perhaps, from Sauternes, as an option) it would be a bomb.

Very strong whisky with some subtle smoke, combined with some nice sweet- and fruitiness, very pleasant whisky for sure.
    • Nose
      88 88
Very full and rich nose, sweet with some whiffs of peat, overripe fruits, organic, citrus fruits. Some vanilla, and even a hint of raspberry.
    • Taste
      89 89
A lot of pepper, strong, a little of sal ammoniac initially. Licorice. Orange, sweet smoke, some caramel and milkchocolate,
    • Finish
      88 88
Again some pepper, pretty strong, sweet smoke, some vanilla, pretty long finish.

The nose is on top - the rest is a bit off; beautiful Highland Park (PLV-wise, I still find the Cask Orkney more interesting). I keep fluctuating between 88 ~ 89P.
    • Nose
      90 90
freshly squeezed lemon, very intense, pink grapefruit, brine, jasmine flowers, honey, heather, oregano, vanilla, fresh pencil tip remnants, salted toffee, bergamot oil, linseed oil, is becoming more intense and ripe, with mirabelle, star fruit, almonds, tangerine, fresh hedge trimming , creamy impression, gentle hay smoke - very nice nose, which takes a lot of time
    • Taste
      88 88
spicy, oily, fruity, very intense, mouthwash, now with lots of tangerine, salt toffee, ginger, walnut oil, dark chocolate sauce, almond cream, jasmine tea, lapsang-searchong tea, brine, green peel-walnut skin
    • Finish
      87 87
medium to long, intense, creamy, spicy, with honey, dark chocolate, ginger, gentle smoke, some brine, almonds, cream ... a lot of cream, bitter peeling walnut skin, in the end fine honey sweetness and heather

Delicious orkney, but seems younger than 6 years .. Strong. Let the points be 21.5-22-22-21.5

    • Nose
      88 88
Pastries, juicy oranges, vanilla, fragrant flowers, then more and more herbs, light maritime notes without being smoky, then a counterplay between warehouse muff and sweet candy notes
    • Taste
      87 87
Mineral, citrus peel, light smoky notes, nice bite with pleasantly sweet spice, always creamier at the back with only a slight dryness
    • Finish
      86 86
Nice finish with floral notes, spice and a little dryness

  10. Ostap scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

A beautiful bouquet in general, a little too high, as for me (although the stated strength should be more comfortable). There is also a certain dissonance between the stated age and the real feeling of endurance. There is angularity, sharpness is more characteristic of young whisky. You can't drink a lot of such whisky.
    • Nose
Bright floral-citrus beginning, smoked, dried herbs, dried seaweed, milk iris, sulphurous notes, honey, mineral, whitewash, citrus caramels, lemon, dry sour peat, then more noticeable fresh cut grass, notes of salt oil. Periodically "bites" receptors.
    • Taste
Citrus, candy, perfume, pepper, meat, apples, a little soap, vanilla, iris, oily.
    • Finish
Pepper, meat, warms, long, dried herbs, citrus, peat note at the finish, vanilla, honey.
