Whisky Reviews for Lagavulin 16-year-old

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.00 points

  1. peatbogger scored this whisky 90 points Specialist

I was given a sample and asked to judge this compaired to "older" bottlings. Does it still stand up or is the quality changing?

I've rated 2 other bottlings of the 16, and they were 92 and 91 points. Here I land at 90 points.
So is the Lagga laggin' ?
It might be the bottling, it might be my pallate tonight, it's anyway a darn good dram at what we still can agree is value for money.
    • Nose

      The nose is Lagavulin.
It's very nice and it's all there, but if I am to be a bit critical, maybe it is a little softer on the edges than what I remember, or rather expected.
    • Taste
      92 92
The same goes for the pallate.
It's not the blast I expected, it actually arrives a little watery.
That said, it picks up to recognition very quickly.
      It's still good ol' Lagga.
    • Finish
      90 90
The finish is as expected. Actually the most spicy part of it.
      Peat, sweet and salty licorice.
Clean as peat can be, with a good lenght.
