#0476 LEGENT KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY FINISHED WINE & SHERRY CASKS 47%.
... for me, one of the better bourbon distillates. I know everything, but here there was a surprise in the form of a finish in a wine barrel, and these proved themselves here. The price may stop the oohs and aahs a bit, but if we decide to buy Legent Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished Wine & Sherry Casks, it will be quite a sensory "investment".
    • Nose
... at first a beautiful dark colour. Now the aromas - strength "only" 46% and at first approach the percentages hit the nostrils and... melted. Now typical bourbon atmospheres, a lot of caramel content, vanillin, varnish, polish, barrel. Nothing I didn't know. I put it aside for a moment and check the empty one - maybe something will come out of the glass and surprise me? - vanilla sugar, pastry oil, glucose syrup, sweet corn in honey. Well, honey and nuts are a miracle. I have nothing to complain about. I go back to the full - nothing new, maybe slightly toasted almond flakes, orange peel like on donuts, cherries bursting with juice, jam or berry preserve. With a stronger draw the alcohol attacks again together with dark fruit. A rather strong smell of these red, dense fruits comes through - maybe these are the wine barrels?
    • Taste
... bourbon on double caramel and very sweet ... wood. It spicyly tingles the tongue, stings slightly, and then spreads pleasant warmth over the body like a sip of good hot coffee. On the second approach, an Amol note, cherry jam, nougat bar, full of nut pulp and marshmallow foam are revealed. The third time - because I want it - it warms like a strong, hot wine, strong mulled wine with oranges, additives, spices. You could come up with a lot of other things here, but why? It's good, even very good.
    • Finish
... a bit short, but it encourages you to pour yourself a second glass after the first one. The strength is just right, not too weak, but not too strong either. It "enters" beautifully and passes through the throat, causing a pleasant bliss in the gut. After some time, I have to say that this finish in wine barrels really did a lot of damage (in a positive way) to the distillate itself. You can still feel the pralines with the cherry alcoholic input. At first, it's still sweet, as all the ingredients fade, there's a winey, slightly dry aftertaste.
