The price-performance ratio is difficult to top, one of the best standard bottlings in the entry-level segment. Round, fruity, smoky and well balanced. Merely alcohol content is two to three percent by volume too low, in places it looks a bit thin.

fruity sherry, white oak, which after a while gains more spice, vanilla, tangy, ripe orange, hints of maritime air and salt, damp rock, freshly baked bread with butter, brown and white sugar accompanied by sandalwood, hints of toffee, a few old ones dried dates, liquid honey, almost like syrup, absolutely no edges or missing notes
    • Taste
      86 86
very maritime in the beginning with malt and salt, smoke and ash board the stage, appears less fruity than expected, on the edge a little sherry, a lot of spicy oak, oily, spicy cedar wood with burnt herbs, nutmeg, accompanied by juicy orange, a little bittersweet chocolate and caramel
    • Finish
      85 85
again spicy oak with herbs, maritime-smoky with delicate ash, walnut, oily structure, a hint of black-smoked ham, hardly any fruit, long-lasting

Day 11 of Lockdown - 28th March - After this pandemic is over, fear many on earth will have OBD with various compulsions like hand washing, sanitizer and masks. I am not sure it meant for good or otherwise.

N- Always faithfully good 10YO series by SB that rarely fail to deliver the pungent zest and penetrating width of aroma. Vicks rubs, oak-y honey, curry leaf to begin with. Graphite and ashy sphere, blade-y citrus, resin and distant rubber nuances. Malty candy, nutmeg, boiled herbs and caramelized sweetness. (92/23)

P- Bitter orange. Thick overripe fruit peels that slightly dry and waxy. Quite perfectly tease with a tinge of light sweetness on the tip. Then the either love/hate ashy hot peat run riots all over the palate (89/22)

F- Medium long, olive oil, nutty, spicy with waxy fruits. (88/22)

    B/B- 91/22 Quintessential Spring-y feels.

Weighted Rate- 89pt, would +1 for good value to 90pt

Not the best batch of Springbank 10y that I’ve had sofar. Missing the juiciness from other batches that I had but bottle has just been opened and I know that Springbank improves over time.

Not a boring dram - flavour and peatiness just right: wont blow your socks off but has you wanting to return for more
    • Nose
Buttery smoke, slight medicinal aroma, beach / maritime, fruity pear
    • Taste
A delightful wee peppery nip which succumbs to an creamy saltiness and woody cereal
    • Finish
Lingering long gentle smokiness - subdued and enjoyable
