A Hammer-Dram, which unfortunately could not quite convince the crowd in the tasting. But now I finally understand why: This whisky is suitable for the sofa and not for a hectic tasting. With time and peace, he unfolds a grandiose complexity, which I have not yet experienced from Hazelburn.

Complex mineral notes, citrus notes, coastal aroma, oak spiciness, dry wood, sparkling lemon juice, everything very interwoven and barely separable, one stands in the middle of the warehouse
    • Taste
      90 90
Mild and citrusy start, creaminess and mineral punch fight on the tongue, the oak wort is there without being dry
    • Finish
      91 91
Spicy, full-bodied, maritime and mineral, completely blended and harmonious

Malty citrusy and mineral with a hint of dirtiness, quite enjoyable

if Springbank would take over Ben Nevis.. or is it the other way around..?
or better yet.. if Springbank would marry Ben Nevis.

..in my (very humble and appreciative) opinion, the owner
made Scotch history with this spirit.

heavy oils, minerals and just an outstanding blend of fruits.. leather and polish.. freshly roasted almonds and coffee in the background.. where the wild herbs grow.
    • Taste
      92 92
bitter sweet and yummy.. apples in a slightly burned in the oven apple pie.. more fruits and just a hint of smoke. the oak is clearly there, but just so well enveloped in oils and tannins.. in the end, the sweet wins the day. also, oranges.
    • Finish
      90 90
long.. tart..bitter limes.. almost fizzy.. slightly saline with a hint of wet wood

This is possibly one of the finest whiskies I have had the pleasure of drinking, leaves a subtle warmth in the palette and is a smooth drink. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good whisky.

    Hazelburn 2001-2018 Private Cask #36 49.3% Abv
Meaty texture, light stewed apples, rotten old metal, ripe bananas, lime peel, sea salt. 89
Light lime, red apple, sea salt, fennel, rich fat, brown sugar crisp, with the flavor of born nuts, and grapefruit skin veins. The wine is okay. But the flavor is a bit strange, and the metallic feel is too strong, which is not quite balanced for my personal feelings. 87
Metal, fennel tannins, bitter grapefruit skin veining. 87

Quite punchy, spicy - not bad

    • Taste
      90 90
Punchy, spicy, subtle sweetness, little citrus fruits, little oak wood, pepper, little ginger, little honey, more minerals, little salty, lemon peel
    • Finish
      89 89
Long, warm, spicy, zesty, grapefruit, a tad bitter in the end
