    Old style sherry wood with banana, nutmeg, cinammon, cooked orchard fruits, hay, very nice

    Fruity and spicy, plenty of vanilla, quite drinkable
    • Nose

      Honeycomb, vanilla, cooked fruits, apple, pear, little apricot, plum, spices, pepper, hints of cinnamon, xmas spice - really not bad

      Punchy, fruity, spicy, subtle sweetness, more cooked fruits, pepper, vanilla, toffee, caramel, hints of ginger, oak wood - pretty good

    The kind of whisky it's impossible not to like, but I wonder how long it has spent in the mentioned bourbon hogshead, because this is similar to another old MoS Bunnahabhain (1967 vintage, cask 3315) in that both have a noticeable, modern bourbon cask feeling smell of caramel, and somehow what the cask has imparted overall reminds me a lot of some Cadenhead Small Batches with distillates from the 1990s such as a Glen Elgin 1995 23.
    • Nose
      Caramel/cream taffy note at first, and the some pure dried malts with a wisp of smoke, backed by hints of tropical fruit (honey melon and grapes, maybe?), soft wax, soft oak, faint hay, and with a few drops of water, dry licorice and the tiniest amount of salt. Some fruit candy and scented eraser notes after a while. Promising...
    • Taste
      ...and fulfilling. The taste is much like the nose, and ready to drink as is, although I would recommend just one or two drops of water and waiting a while to let it activate. I find these old malts often require a jump start with just a touch of H2O no matter the ABV. Peppery and sweet at first, then becoming like an old ex-bourbon Speysider with just a wisp of peat some supporting a malty, honeyed and full body with a bit of good quality fruit candy and tropical fruit.
    • Finish
      Much like the taste. That little wisp of peat helps it last long and makes you feel like more of this is in order right away.
