I am absolutely surprised and happy that there is still such a whisky. Especially at a time when the prices of Islay Sherry whisky are rising higher and higher, this is simply a great alternative. I do not have to say anything more, except DELICIOUS.
    • Nose
S chon on the first nose is quite clear which malt you have here in the glass! I will tell in a personal conversation like to thirsty for knowledge.
A clear cloud of smoke is spreading, the first blocked everything! Really everything. This lasts for a moment, then the whole thing opens again and malt, caramel and sweetness as well as dark fruits are now recognizable, until cold ashes spread again. Also a hint of iron notes of meat can be tasted. The Smokehead High Voltage offers this but quite one after the other, you have to take a little time. In addition, one has little alcohol in the nose despite its luscious 58% vol. Alc. Has something of a raw ribeye steak doused with Islay whisky.
    • Taste
T he first goes first time the palate, a nice peppery occupied him completely intense and smoky. Still not brutal but oily and warming. Here, too, you gradually taste different notes, the Smokehead has clearly mineral notes, earth, some iron, then notes of dark chocolate, nut and wood. Again and again the sweetness returns and mixes pleasantly with the other tastes. The alcohol is fantastically integrated, barely noticeable. I had not expected that at all, because especially the independent, boys, always come wild with a lot of alcohol. Convince the high voltage through its thoroughly dark notes, it is really delicious. I did not add water, it did not need it, you can always do it, but you do not have to.
    • Finish
T he departure how can it be different is intense and long. You can also taste it a while later, leaving some orange peel and dark chocolate. Delicious. Can I only recommend it.

Good balance of smoke and soft sweetness - very drinkable and enoyable

    Notes from a blind tasting:
    • Nose
First, powerful smoke from an outgoing campfire rises in my nostrils. Vinous notes and dark fruits waft in the background. Cherries, oranges and sultanas. The smell of a tobacco box and hints of mead, as well as old leather become noticeable.
    • Taste
Again, the smoke is directly present again, but it followed very quickly oranges and limes paired with a slightly alcoholic pungency. Raspberries, cherries and dark grapes follow cocoa and dark chocolate, which give way to spicy notes such as nutmeg and cinnamon. They are followed by subtle oak notes.
    • Finish
The smoke is still present and the oranges are again noticeable. Roasting flavors and creme brulee fade slowly and give way to a pleasant oak flavor.

    • Nose
Warm smoke, lemon, banana, smoked meat, menthol
    • Taste
Okay, you can not do it without water (at least today) .... And another sip. Wow, but really has chili sharpness.

Smoke, ashes, lemon, some honey, neat chili and pepper - also with lots of water

Nice peated whisky with enough room for sweet and fruity notes. Very enjoyable and a very good stuff for its reasonable price.

Peat, sweet smoke, cigarette smoke and ash too. Strong alcohol, fruit, some prunes and raisins. Also some vanilla sweetness, caramel and fake leather.
    • Taste

Some sal ammoniac, licorice, strong, pepper, sweet smoke. Caramel, vanilla, and some strawberry as well.
    • Finish

Still some pepper and pickering in the throat, sal ammoniac, licorice, sweet smoke. Drying mouthfeel, long finish, some tobacco and ash.

Real good quality for the price. You can not complain. Since one could consider also times ne bottle to buy.

At the entrance a violently herbaceous peat, we recognize a famous Islay distillery, located south of the island and whose name does not begin with L. It is dark and wet, it seems to walk in a tunnel. Ash and white fruits, vanilla, a bit of citrus, toffee and wood. With the addition of water, it becomes a little swampy, a little elder, mildew and a medicinal touch.
In the mouth, it is a little young but it lets itself drink, it is very peaty obviously, vegetal. Maybe a little salt. The finish is explosive, with wood and caramel returns, really nice and rather long. A metallic aftertaste in retro-olfaction. It's nice all that, but let's not forget that for 10 euros more we have the Uigeadail.
