Whisky Reviews for Talisker 18-year-old

- Very good stuff from Talisker. The people working for this Skye-distillery certainly know what they are doing. I wonder if the newer bottlings of the 18yo are just as good?
Some light smoke is accompanied by brine. Then lots of fruit appears. Lemon, underripe banana, nectarine and peach. It also has a floral quality. Yes, this is proper stuff.
Soft at first but then some intense smoke and pepper. Pretty dry. But it mellows after a while, which is when the fruit returns, this time apples and pears. And there's some marzipan too.
Smoky and peppery, giving it a beautiful long fruity ending.

Nose: sweet and fruity. Peat smoke in the background. Chocolate coated orange. Vanilla. Flowery honey. Some marshmallows. Nectarine? Quite feminine for a Talisker if you ask me. Mouth: soft arrival, still rather sweet but getting a powerful, smokey kick after a few moments. Peppery with subtle peat. Getting drier on spices, with a bit of sherry burried somewhere underneath the smoke. Finish: classy development, soft and balanced. Vanilla and wood. Still some pepper.
Flawless Talisker and surprisingly fresh whisky. Around € 65.
Amazingly cool. Citrus, the smoke rising in power thereafter.
Bitterness of orange peel, vanilla and honey. Fruity enough, the pepper is discreet. Citrus fruits present.
Pepper is more, smoke on the tongue. White pepper grows and radiates.
- Surprisingly fruity with apple compote, peach, dried apricot, tangerine and grapefruit. Also chocolate, pear, vanilla, pear, fried banana and a bit of mint. Peat smoke and salt are way less present than in regular Taliskers. Very tasty with a very full nose, but I think it would have benefited from a higher ABV to give it a bit more power.
