It may sound strange for a malt enthusiast to say a grain is in his top 3 brands, but I find old Invergordon to be something special.
And what's better than one from my own 1965 vintage (wish I could have stopped counting at 39...)
This was a birthday pour and a generous sample for review courtesy of Slàinte Mhath.

Ah, the familiar smell of lovely old Invergordon.
Maybe a tad more musky than the best ones I've tried. but it's all here.
Cinnamon buns, creme brulee, nutty fudge.
      Absolutely no alcohol to notice.

Here the musky notes comes through as just more boldness, probably due to the abv being close to 50%
Butter fingers dipped in dark chocolate with a sprinkle of pepper.
A tiny drop of water doesn't hurt it. It reduces the spice and boldness a bit and brings out more sweetness, but honestly it is better without.
    • Finish

Not sure if I imagine this is longer than it actually is... I just find my self enjoying the fading taste for longer than normal.
Water removes the hint of bitterness in the finish, but all things considered I recommend to raise it neat.
