Whisky Reviews for Ben Bracken Islay Cd

    Copper gold, the darkest of the three - and dark is also the chocolate, which he briefly recalls before campfire smoke from fresh softwood, strongly grilled dates wrapped in bacon, cherries, orange peel and a little caramel with a pinch of cinnamon prevail. Surprisingly aromatic overall.
    Smoke meets ashes and again the orange in the mouth, together with the very dark chocolate and sweet herbal sweets. As expected, the bacon dates and the ashes settle a little longer in the finish, but they don't leave a really lasting impression either.

    Young and without any peculiarities. Except for peat notes with ashtray smoke and a little sweetness almost nothing.
    Especially good as an example of how good other smoky NAS Islay whiskys are in the lower price segment

  4. Malthead19 scored this whisky 64 points Expert Senior

    - Sweet smoke, not much depth
    - after the smoky start, youth, cold smoke, the smoke overlays a lot (also the rather burning metallic notes), some sweetness still present

    - the best from the sample set, the smoke increases its complexity, but it still stays young

    even young people cannot cover smoke; an average whisky - but, in my opinion, the best of the 3 range!
    • Nose
      sweet, gentle, mild smoke, salty and maritime;
    • Taste
      a watery, thin onset, smoke, phenols, tar and ash, salt water, herbs, little complexity;
    • Finish
      sweet, smoky, salty and quite short;
