About Akashi

Akashi is a Japanese whisky brand produced by Eigashima Shuzo at the White Oak Distillery in Akashi City, Hyōgo Prefecture. The distillery originally began as a sake and shōchū producer but began official whisky production after building its White Oak facility in 1984, following its acquisition of Japan’s first whisky license in 1919. Akashi’s lineup encompasses both blends and single malts, crafted in small batches and matured in a variety of casks—including bourbon, sherry, wine, and locally inspired oak—to reflect artisanal and climate-influenced character shaped by its coastal environment.
