About WhiskyCasual:

If you want to interpret my ratings, this is the scale I try to follow:

96+ Whisky heaven

Looking forward to this section

94 - 96 Outstanding

Not necessarily more complexity and depth compared to P91-93, but even better based on my preferences in flavors, roundness, unique selling points.. (closest so far is ID127337 Glenfarclas 1990)

91 - 93 Excellent

Breakpoint(s) to the high end stuff, extremely good and complex, nose palate and finish are all on a high level, rating not affected by „price enjoyment ratio“ (PER) because the experience might be unique (eg. ID78499 Springbank 20-year-old)

88 - 90 Very Good

Very enjoyable, complexity and depth, a very good Nose/Palate/Finish can still carry this one, can also be affected by PER (eg ID68916 Glendronach 18-year-old Allardice)

82 - 87 Good

Quite enjoyable, easy drinking, mostly not very complex, PER might be taken into account and can affect the rating

(eg. ID14763 Old Pulteney 17-year-old)

76 - 81 Okay

Nothing special here, a solid dram, PER might be taken into account (eg. ID239 An Cnoc 12-year-old)

70 - 75 Once is enough

(eg. ID75543 Burns Nectar Single Malt Scotch Whisky HMcD)

50 - 69 Not normally considered here

Most of the time I use either a Glencairn or a Spiegelau Snifter Premium.

Generally I prefer unpeated over peated (especially young and phenolic) malts and I love me a good sherry cask!
