About MaltMartyr:

Chicago area native.  Appreciates whisk(e)y.  Respects that bourbon is a distinct beverage unlike Single Malt.  Scoring:  90-100: Exquisite; Balanced, or occasionally imbalanced, with extreme enduring qualities; ingrained in my memory (sometimes, what you nose is what you taste), yet 95-100  points get sketchy, and arguably subjective without a good description. A few outliers with unrepeatable equipment, unique attributes/cask flaws, distinct staffing wizardry, luck, and proper aging.  85-90: Excellent to Outstanding; well balanced whisk(e)y with pronounced appreciated notes that endure in memory and upon re-tasting; most likely to get drained sooner or cherished too long. A 'deuce buy,' if not a six pack, depending upon value. 80-84: Above average to Excellent; I'd buy a bottle depending upon the price and distinct flavor notes; 70-79: 'Average,' and/or distinct; but best in the appropriate cocktail. If a bottle is below 70, then it's avoided, given away, or kept for guests! 50-69: Only fit for die hard distillery fans without a conscience! Some may have appreciation/tastebuds that I have yet to acquire.  Expressions under 50 have such pronounced, yet 'unforgivable' defects, to me, that I often feel it best to let others score.
