Sullivans Cove was founded in 1995 at – you guessed it – Sullivans Cove. This scenic little slice of Hobart was also home to one Britain’s first settlements in Tasmania. Since it’s establishment Sullivans Cove whisky has become one of the most desired single malt whiskies in the world. The distillery’s already brim-full trophy cabinet was joined in 2014 by the biggest one yet, when Sullivans Cove French oak was named the World’s Best Single Malt Whisky at the prestigious World Whisky Awards in London.
Sullivans Cove recently moved to a brand new distillery at 1/10 Lamb Place in Cambridge. Visitors can tour the distillery, buy great whisky and relax with a dram of the World’s Best Single Malt in the visitor centre. No appointments necessary, open between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Sullivans Cove single malt whiskies are made using only Tasmanian ingredients, are non-chill-filtered and “distilled with conviction” – a cheeky little toast to Tasmania’s past as a melting pot for the criminally inclined. Most interestingly for whisky-lovers, Sullivans Cove bottle each barrel of whisky individually, giving every bottle unique and subtle variances in flavour, aroma and colour.
