John McEwan & Co. Ltd. was a historic Scottish whisky blender and bottler, founded in Leith in 1863. The company became known for blended Scotch brands such as Abbot’s Choice and Chequers, and was granted licensing rights to bottle Linkwood single malt following its acquisition by Distillers Company Limited in 1937. McEwan produced both blended and single malt bottlings—both under pseudonymous labels and official releases—many now prized by collectors. The company eventually became part of Diageo’s portfolio and was dissolved in 2010.
