I think I first started drinking whisky when I was somewhere below the legal drinking age of 18. It must've been love at first taste, because it stuck. I started collecting miniatures and tried as many as possible. The variation was amazing. It wasn't until years later that I really learned the difference between single malt, blended, bourbon, cask types, finishes etc. I just liked it. I do remember the first single malt that I really loved - Lagavulin 16. Still do. From there you just grow into it and before you know it you have a collection of great bottles, you're in a whisky club, you volunteer at whisky festivals, you get behind stands to educate people about it and you take trips to Scotland to visit as many distilleries as possible. Funny how that works...
