  1. Querky scored this whisky 77 points Expert Junior

Well, I know of Bowmore's abilities, but I can't help myself but think that under Suntory's influence the best thing you can do is to avoid their official bottlings. The whisky itself has some interesting edges, that seem to be straightened out too much, making it plain and disappointing for me.
If you're looking for a very inoffensive whisky, that's easy to quaff and doesn't need any further regard, then you've found what you're looking for.

First impression, as soon as poured into the glass: smoke, of course. A closer sniff brings up dried figs, ashes, some lightweight raisin-sweetness, followed by caraway, molten plastic, faint sherry notes, all interfused with light and almost bitter smoke. Revisiting the glass again and again brings up something unpleasant, slightly prickly each time that reminds me of carbonic acid, as if you'd open a bottle of sparkling water you left in your sun-exposed car.

Soft, light-bodied, very fragile. The moment you begin to taste it, it's almost gone. Sweetness, smoke, that's it. A few sips later the sweetness turns out to be watery sherry, accompanied by indefinable flowery aromas.
      Very inoffensive and dull.

The best part of the whole thing! Here we've got a lovely bitter cocoa note, hand in hand with classic (but again quite light) sherry characteristics, raisins and naturally soft smoke, reminding of ashes and coal. Unfortunately after a rather short interlude some synthetic sweetness is all that remains.
