Drankdozijn links

Dear people from Belgium,

Stop reporting Dutch drankdozijn.nl shop links as "wrongly priced". They are not, and it's driving me nuts. There is a Dutch flag next to the shop name and I really don't feel like the quoted prices should be driven by the fact you pay a premium. If you wan't to report a price as wrong, switch land/country to "Nederland" as look whether it's actually not just you.

Thanks in advance.

Just my 2 cents natuurlijk...

it surprises me that people don't realize this themselves and that they report it to whiskybase or drankdozijn... i do not wish to come accross too negative but i doubt this post will help solving that...

on another note, does anybody know why drankdozijn applies the extra taxes and (most if not all) other shops in holland, germany, france, etc don't ?
  • and does anybody know how this works?
  • so belgian people pay a premium tax to drankdozijn, but how does this end up with the belgian government who receives this premium tax?
  • D12 needs to report their individual sales to belgians to the belgian government?
  • directly or via the dutch tax authoroties?
  • Who calculates the premium?

and again, why is it only D12 that seems to have this price-difference in place?

slainte!

From my experience, other webshops like drankgigant and whiskysite change the taxes as well, albeit at the last moment when you select your country for transport/shipping. So D12 has the 'decency' to do this in advance so you don't feel 'robbed' at the end of your shopping spree. As for your other remarks / questions, I suppose they use an automatic calculation to set the tax prices for each bottle in every country they ship out to (standard bottle price added with a outrageous gazillion taxes in Belgium or UK, a modest taxation in Germany and so on). I believe there is a sort of bilateral agreement between the Netherlands and Belgium when it comes to taxes due from people shopping in each others country, where the Dutch tax administration pays the Belgians.
Of course, when you're not too far away from the Dutch border, it's often more economical to get in your car and drive to the Netherlands, because it saves a lot on shipping and taxes. And if you do live too far from Holland, book a holiday there or go to Luxembourg happy

You should not be mad at the shops for charging that premium, you should be mad at the idiots in our BE government. I perfectly understand that the shops change the price when you enter the shipping address, I for one like to know how much taxes I'm paying on a bottle.

I used to buy much of my whisky on drankgigant.nl and d12, but with these adjustments it's really no longer worth it. Now I only buy there in case of a very interesting sale and that's about it.

It's funny, because people are still reporting links. I won't change the prices of the links to the Dutch version of D12 just because the people here are feeling like they are looking at unfair prices, or whatever you call it.

I get why people are upset about it but as you guys already said, that's not the fault of D12, that's on the Belgium Government.
