As a pretty new member of this society, i noticed people don`t check enough if bottles they add are already taken in the list.

For example The Macallan GM 1937 and The Macallan 1937

Maybe is it an idea to have a reporting point so the administrators can d something about this little problem.

hi rimp

yr example is the same bottle; whisky id 25376 , thats why they look the same ; they are the same.

the guys who add bottles realy put al lot of efford in it ,daily.

they check every bottle people send in. before puting new bottles in the base, they check the base,  the internet, and even in books. the base is almost on 40.000 bottles now,  i can imagine its not 1000% perfect but great enough for me. (lets drink that mac 37 so there wil be one left wink

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me, than a full frontal lobotomy.

Look like the bottles were added at the same time. Must be a bug.

Here`s another example of duplicate bottles:

http://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies.php?merkid=176&whiskyid=21559
and
http://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies.php?merkid=176&whiskyid=10244

I think #21559 should be deleted since it is less accurate (has less information)

I agree with Addy though --- with nearly 40,000 (!) bottles in the Base there are bound to be some accidental duplicates....

This is exactly why on every page is a button "add info". In the comments section you can add a link to an other whiskybase link.

A good way to help the base being accurate.

Same goes for the Laphroaig Quarter Cask, i recently bought a 700l bottle and tried to add it, in the list there are a few of the Same bottles of different ages. Now i checked my bottle and it doesn`t tell any age or year of bottling, so how is it possible to have a 2010 and 2012 one, did i miss something?

G`day.
For the Quarter Cask these aren`t different `ages` as such (since it`s a NAS release), but Laphroaig, at least since ~the Jim Beam takeover, uses read-able bottle codes as well. It`s printed/lasered onto the glass. Look for something like L1 123 12:34.
Meaning that specific bottle would have been bottled in year (L) 1 (= 2011, could mean 2001 on other distilleries` bottles...but not Laphroaig since they used a different system back then), the 123rd day of the year, at 12:34.
c.

Remember - whisky scores and impressions are highly subjective and situational by nature - so don't go and buy whisky according to someone else's taste...
